I have just spent 2hrs and $40 to get rid of a stupid virus... System restore virus...

With the help of Jay and my other computer guy I found a couple of programs to help then stumbled across a trojan remover for $40:mad: It actually worked though...

I had to go back and system restore after the virus was removed and I "THINK" all is well....

I want to know what motivates these awful people to do such immature and costly things???? I would love to put a foot in a couple of their :mad:

What the sad part is shane is that they are smart enough to make it but to stupid to get a job most of the time. Just wasting a killer ability

If the truth was known Trojan probably invented the virus so thay could sell you something to remove it with.

Talk about aggravating and waste of time. Really don't understand the motivation behind stuff like this.

Sin, that's what motivates them. The really sad part is that it is probably an 18 year old in a shack in Indonesia or India.

Always been my theory........Hey we are getting slow around here.......release some more viruses.

Well why did you click on the link of the naked chicas Shane?:p:eek: You can't deny it now.

I had a server that runs our access control software, wander management software and integrated with our DVR video that records entry/exit footage at a clients business that crashed. Found 1400 Trojans on it !!! I have a feeling that the security guards were using the server to surf the internet while they were working the overnight shift. It took 4 service calls to completely remove it all as it found a way to attach itself to a modem driver. I finally had to remove the modem to remove the virus. Internet access is now completely blocked at this server unless you are one of our techs.
I think the virus protection software companies hire people to write new viruses so they can sell more software.

Myself...I have used a Macbook Pro for years without virus protection and never a virus. Bought my wife a Macbook Pro for Christmas last year, it was a small learning curve for her but she loves it and I don't have to spend time removing her viruses anymore.

I absolutely hate when I have to help remove my wife's viruses........

X2 on the MacBook! We bought one and will never go back to pc's! No virus problems and it doesn't freeze/lock up either.

That is the best way to deal with the virus'. Plus you still get to go look at all the purdy ladies without getting the computer herpies.

Naw, I was on a joke site and followed a link to a funny video which popped up some porn crap:mad: I hadn't got a pop up ad in a long time, just as soon as I hit the site windows started opening and I knew I was in trouble:mad:

What did you use to remove the virus?

Thx

Well first I stopped it with RKill.

Then I ran malwarebytes and got most of it.

Had some stuff left so I found Loaris Trojan remover and it had a step by step system which finished cleaning it up... All my windows files were still hidden... They had a program called "unhider" so I ran that it brought it all back. It had another little program that did something, I forgot, then I rebooted and restored back to the day before and so far so good!

Shane you're way ahead of me computer wise, but I use AVG anti virus even the free edition.no problems since.never has missed anything.

If you had to do a system restore afterwards, you should run another scan because usually malware will embed itself in the restore records also.

The motivation behind malware is money, plain and simple. Not to mention stealing personal information. There is a huge market for it on Darknet.

Also, there is no absolute protection. Just because youre using AVG or whatever, you're still very vulnerable. The best combination I have found and its not even foolproof is Kaspersky and the full version of MalwareBytes.
