I need to know if there are any other places that would re-build my turbo? It has alot of shaft play and turbonetics said they charge 100 for inspection + 290 for labor + parts. I figure that may end up being more than the turbo is worth? Are there any other alternatives? I enjoyed the turbo and really want to re-build but not for 500+:confused::confused:

Just remember you usually pay for what you get..... i've heard horror stories of people "rebuilding" turbos only to have major issues within the first 1000 miles... IMO i'd rather pay a lil' more up front and have peace of mind, than to pay $200-300 only to come out of another $500 down the road.... if there is no impeller or turbine damage - parts shouldnt be "that" overwhelming, did they quote you on a std rebuild for seals and balancing? Do they give their 1 yr NO HASSLE warranty on it once its done? these are points that need to be weighed in... just my opinion

How many miles on that turbo...and what PSI were you running it at?

If it has excessive shaft play, it will need a new cartridge (CHRA) which is the center section, all new internals, Turbine shaft, Compressor wheel. If it were just some play, you could rebuild it. There is no way to tell unless you have it inspected.
