Have you checked the ground wires on the head to make sure they are tight?
Have you verified that the posative battery cable is not hitting on the downpipe or grounding out anywhere else during acceleration?
Are all the intercooler hose connections tight?

Any Scanmaster or Powerlogger data?

Is it a flat tappet cam? if so maybe a lobe gone south. Any way try a different coil/ module first!!

Start it, unplug the cam sensor and go for a spin. see if the problem goes away.

backfiring

it took us two weeks to figure out that one wire from the maf wasent making connection to the computer and my car was also backfiring at 3000 rpm

also reach down and check you cam sensor, mine did it one time and the bolt had backed off letting it turn and get the timing off.

Also check your crank pulley center bolt, if that gets loose it will rub the crank sensor and it will backfire, happened to me. Also had the positive battery cable rub against the header and burn through, causing backfire, as stated in post above this one.

I had 1 of the screens in the MAF come loose and only on acceleration bounce off the sensor inside and would pop.
