I am stuck trying to put my driveshaft in it seem to be jus a @!# to long, tried lifting the mission, lowering the rear (took shocks off) and nothing works is there some kinda trick to this i dont not, replace hundreds on import but this is my first muscle car (gbody) (also I have tried too different driveshafts 1 from a regal and 1 from a monte)

HELP!!!!!

Are they going all the way into the trans?? Shouldn't be a big deal.

BTW you would probably have better luck with the rear end up as far as you can, not down.

Is it the stock Driveshaft?
Driveshaft from G-Body with 7.5" 10-Bolt rear is 1" longer than G-Body with 8.5" 10-Bolt rear.

@ SSedan64 - I think that maybe the issue, is there a way to tell the difference ez.

Look at the spline inside the yoke........are they twisted? If the car has been drag raced much with hard launches the stock yoke splines can twist. This will keep the yoke from sliding fully into the rear of the trans.

@ Dusty Bradford - I wish it was that ez, but thanks, the yoke and spline were the first things I checked,

Driveshaft length, 8.5" & 7.5" rears.

@ SSedan64 - I think that maybe the issue, is there a way to tell the difference ez.

DS for 8.5" rear is 51.50", + or - .100"
DS for 7.5" rear is 52.50"
This is center of U-Joint to center of U-joint measurement.
Todd

I have two stock GN driveshafts if you need them-51.5" long center to center-$50. Each plus shipping. Matt 347-680-8642.
