Well, for the first time I took my 1987 Turbo T to the track. Best time I could muster was a 14.04, leaving with 4# boost 15# overall. Was only running 14.60s until I bought some 110 fuel. Was afraid to turn up the boost though, Im not sure what you can run with what and how. Anyway, I have a 4.1 stage 2 motor with alot of goodys that I could build but also have a production 4.1 std complete engine. I dont know haw much a stage motor cost but I am certain that I am not ready for that challenge yet. However, I am very interested in building the production 4.1. I would like to spend no more than 5k and want to know can you get into the high tens. And if so, is there a recipe, And I might spend more if one of those new billit 6768 turbos are worth the money! Thanks and I do not want to lose at the track that badly anymore! So please help the slow, be faster.

you don't need to build anything to run way faster than you currently do.

My '86 T-type ran mid 14's when I bought it, but performing "recipe" mods, it ran 12.20's with the 100% stock motor, turbo, injectors, intercooler.

If you were currently running high 11's and wanted to run low 10's THEN start spending $5K on a motor.

For less than $1000, your car can be more than 2 seconds faster than it is now and not touch the motor internals.

Please tell me how. I have a freind that is running a 1978 malibu 454, 11.60s I need to get some respect back, in fun I ran my mouth alittle and wouldnt you know. So Ill take what there is to know if it will be shared. Thanks

Start reading and tuning on what you have.

More motor not tuned correctly will run just as bad and cost more to repair....

You need to start reading a lot more on these forums. Under $5k wont get you 10's.

Low 11s

What does it take to get there($)? I mean what is realistic when talking $$ to run high 10s low 11s. And is it cheaper and easier to get there, to sell the 3.8 and build a 4.1 I have two 3.8 and would be able to keep the original that came with the car. I took some pictures this weekend of all of the stuff I have now.

Stage 2, stock engine, 4.1 production.

Let me start by saying you need to slow down, you don't need a stage 2 and you don't know much about these cars so start reading up before you burn a ton of $$ and a motor up. The fact that you bought 110 octane for a forced induction car running 15psi says a lot.

Do searches for tuning, 10 second recipe, bolt ons etc. If you knew what it took to build a stage 2 you'd probably not do it and if you did, you'd probably not get the results you wanted anyways right now.

BTW, getting a billet 67 to runs 10's is not practical, it's WAY to large, a 62/65 with heads is plenty for your goal.

Read this thread... It has a list of parts I used to put my previous GN into the 10's with the factory engine.

No secret recipes here... just a bunch of bolt-ons.

The other thing you could do is... send me your car and a credit card... and give me a few weeks alone with it. :D

This true I dont know much about the car, I didnt want to get faster until I noticed that the car was that slow. I started reading some of Bisons threads and just looked at the 4.1 basic build link(Good Info), I will get there and im in no hurry. Just looking for help. And I do not have plans for the stage motor, not until I master this little beast!

Dont tempt me!!

Kind of new here my self and after reading here and a few other sites I decided I wanted a low 11sec car that I can drive back and forth to work in the summer time and have AC for when me and the kids go to car shows.
First since no one has said it yet its usually the first thing they say you should post what mods are on the car now and what tuning tools you have so every one can see what you have to work with.
As for your extra parts you know the stage motor is what you build for a full on racer and the 3.8 and stock 4.1 make a good all around car from what I have read 10s can be safely done with a stock block if built correctly so if your not going to build a dedicated track car why not sell the stage motor to have one of the builders here build ether a 3.8 or the stock 4.1 for you and sell off the stage motor to help pay for it don’t forget there is more to 10s then just the engine you have to also include suspension and safety like a roll cage. from what I have read a good 10 sec car would take around 15k that is if you want to have a car that will not explode on the track and have the required safety features installed to not get ran off the track.

You need to spend some time here Turbo Buick Performance Build Ups/Recipes
And read a lot on that site to get you ware you want to be.
Here is a thread post a while a go on 10sec cars http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/ti...e/293040-looking-4-real-world-10-0-combo.html

I think a billet 67 is impractical as far as money goes but in no way too large of a turbo. My 66 was an awesome turbo on the street I just wanted more  so I went to a 72 which still works well on the street. If you have money to burn get a billet wheel turbo by all means. I would definitely get a 66mm or 67mm though if you are looking to buy a turbo, you will be happier down the road. Plenty of people get a smaller turbo and then sell it to go bigger. I say make the right purchase the first time for future speed goals.

Does it take a 400 to get there or can a 200 make it?

I think for long term durability and investment, the TH400 wins hands down. It sucks not having overdrive, but a broken 200r4 sucks worse.
A 200R4 will get it done too... as proven by a buddy of mine that ran in the 10's the same afternoon with me.

You could also try a much cheaper approach... by hanging a nitrous kit on it.

I went 12.20's with my first Turbo Buick... a very stock '86 T-type.
After installing a single fogger nozzle in the up-pipe, it ran 11.15 @ 121. That was with a stock dutt necked intercooler, TE62, MSD50's and Turbo Tweak chip. :D
