ckperformance is now manufacturing its version of the 9/11 called the 10/12.the size is the same as the others but it has been renamed so theres no confusion and also because it is a 10"x12" piece.as of right now we are not building the billet versions but will be shortly.what we have done though is made the non billet cover design once again available as it was discontinued by tcs.we will build the billet version as soon as our stock of tcs billet cover pieces are depleted from stock.we will continue to honor any issues with the tcs 9/11 convertor for the duration of their warrantee period.the non billet gives those guys who dont need a billet cover the cost savings over the billet piece without any sacrifice in stall speed or performance.various configurations were tested and led us to the final designs.they are available in 2800,3000,3200,and 3400rpm stall.also one should note that we will be making our selections based on engine torque, and turbo size which makes mechanical sense when selecting proper stall.ie,a motor making 500ftlbs of torque that must leave at 3600 will get the 3200 part number.this is because all ratings are based on 400ftlbs and 15lbs bost.this system will be much more end user friendly and will help eliminate downtime due to restalling.anyone interested can contact me personally as we will be giving a great deal on them this month, thanks .

BTW, PM'ed you on this Chris. Don't know how often you check it.

PM'ed as well. I have cash, and don't mind spending it on a good product.

Thanks

Billy

When do ya think your new billit version of the lockup 10/12 will be ready?

Hey sounds good

have you thought of holding off and seeing how much the non billet piece will handle before stepping into the billets?

I ask because the billet piesces are heavy as ****

with the tcs that was in my car (non billet) when running bottom 10's over 130 I had no problems with the converter housing and no issues with lockup holding

the problem in mine was all the fins folded over which the billet cover will not help

the tcs in nearings car was a billet piece and it failed much faster than my non billet and with less power being put thru it

(btw I have his converter out and Him or myself will contact you on where to ship it )(Hes out on ship right now and Im not sure when it returns to port)

on his I have no idea if the lockup would hold at wot because we never got it to lock at wot but it would on the return road ??

another thing to keep in mind is to machine clearence on the front of the billet plate so it dont lay againt the flex plate like tcs's billet piece does

Im looking forward to putting some testing on one of your units and hope to find good results

all the info above was not to down play tcs or anyone else just some input on my observations from real world testing

hey any chance of swapping out his billet tcs unit for one of your units :D I can garantee stress testing come march since that is our next track rental that Nearings car will be at (with a fresh motor to boot ;)

I have to give props to CK for realizing there was a problem and stepping up to the plate to try and resolve them :)

basically it is a 9/11 just hopefully one that will hold up

the other 9/11s use to be nice ..they musta got connected with china for the parts now adays tho :D

I dont see a 10" lockup holding at wot in low 10 or faster cars

I may be wrong on that ..wanna donate one for testing :D

Call up Steve Barr and tell him what you wrote here about the testing. Let him know you will share the results and see if he is up for it. Tell him Jesse sent you there!

the surface area of the clutch as well as input torque applied to the convertor are certainly factors in how much abuse a given design will take.the 12 inch cover used in our design in conjunction with a woven fibre friction disk will contain more clutch surface area over smaller designs unless you were to compare it with a multiple disk unit which has not enjoyed the popularity or success of the 9/11 or 10/12 design.the deletion of the damper that influences as well as cushions the convertor cover as it is becomes a direct driven mechanical link between the crankshaft and the turbine shaft has proven to be a wise step in the design process of the convertor.i am certain our non billet and billet cover convertors will be better than previous designs through our desire and drive to better engineer things,as well as those proffessionals out there that are nice enough to share their technology, reasoning ,and understanding with us.at this company, the idealogy, conception, planning and successful delivery of a much needed product is the fuel that drives the engines of our mechanical minds.

Why are the fins folding over in the converter? Can somone explain this? If my fins fold over i am not going to be a happy camper!

thats never been an issue with the tcs 9/11 we sold.there were never any returned to us for mechanical damage or failure whatsover.only restalls on 3800 that the builder wasnt aware of how much power the engines were producing.

Thats good to know, i hope i don't run into that situation:)

I'll call you on monday since Nearing emailed me back and said to go ahead and get the converter shipped back to whereever you say to send it

you should check with tcs and ask if you can cut it open and take a look

It stalled real close to the 3800 range at first now at 1/4 throttle its 5500 stall  thats was about a months running time ...dont sound like a restall needed sounds like a failure

If there Isnt a failure problem with the tcs ones why Is CK coming out with their own

hopefully it didnt send trash thru the ck 2004r thats in it..I'll try and get the pan off in next day or so to check for debrie

My vigilante did the same symptoms.................fins folded like a pretzel:(

vigilante

Damn, and I thought the vigilante converters were supposed to be strong.

What about the Yank extreme converters?

just went through a disaster with a yank converter.build height was wrong and the tech was an asshole about it saying you have to grind the pump boss down so it dont hit.
