Guys-

I have been screwing with this all afternoon.

The infared eyes are solid, aligned at each other. The remote works going up but when I push it to go down it just clicks and move 1/8 of an inch and stops.

Wall button works both up and down.

Any ideas?

Mine does it sometimes.... I either unplug it (shut off power) or sometimes it just starts working again... I hope someone has a better idea:biggrin:

Often, garage doors have a torque limiter for safety purposes in addition to the eyes. There will be a small pot on the back of the unit. You can try turning it all the way up/down to give the maximum amount of allowable torque before the garage door detects a blockage. Also inspect your worm drive (if gear driven) and the tracks to make sure there is no binding. Lots of times the tracks will get twisted and cause the door to bind detecting high torque and stopping/reversing. Lastly, if it IS torque, most times the door will auto reverse. It may be doing that but only travelling a very small distance, not enough to get off the reverse limit switch. Also, check the forward limit switch and make sure it is making/breaking. Put your meter across it. It should show continuity until made. If it is not, then the door won't go down.

I know it sounds strange that the remote doesn't work but the wall switch does, but I have seen that problem before and it was torque. It seems that pressing the remote only sends a momentary down RF signal whereas holding the button keeps the down signal longer and is often enough to overcome the torque issue.
