Just got done fixing my fueling issue and now there is oil coming from every possible spot . Is there any tricks to sealing the valve cover . It seems it only leaks a lot during high boost . There is a big white cloud behind me :-(

Some valve covers just plain suck !!!!!!!! My GN1 covers didnt like to seal well. Use cork gaskets ...and do not over tighten

The Fel Pro rubber gaskets seal up pretty well and will hold up if you have to remove the valve covers in the future. I resealed the oil pan, front/rear main seals with the neoprene gaskets as well, no leaks at all on a daily driver.

plain ole Fel-Pro cork gaskets here. The tend to stick to the valve covers and I use them over and over with no leaks.

First, find out if the pcv is working.......

He said it only leaks under high boost, wouldn't that take the PCV out of that scenario.

The PCV only comes into play while the engine is producing vacuum.

Unless you mean to check it for leaks under boost to make sure it is sealing tight and won't let boost past it.

There are tons of threads on whether to even use the PCV or not. What's your take on that, use one or is it not needed especially if you run your boost in the mid to high 20's.

Make sure valve cover grommets are NON baffled. Yes it can be that simple..

Put a check valve in line with the PCV. I use the RJC PCV as a check valve in line with the factory style PCV. The RJC valve flows too much to be used as a stand alone unless you leave the factory breathers in place. Every PCV I have ever used leaks boost into the crank case. The previous owner of my car blew oil all over the hood liner obviously ignorant of the cause. The car still seeps oil because of the mileage, age, and abuse of pressurizing the crankcase, but it is much better than when I bought it. I also replaced the front and rear crank seals and valve cover gaskets when I put the check valve in.

I don't use one. I have one installed but have no hose hooked up.

It will let pressure out if the breathers get overwhelmed but that's about it.

As far as I'm concerned the only function of the PCV is to burn fuel vapor that builds in the crankcase under normal driving [emissions] and has no value in a performance based turbo engine.

I have vented the oil pan to eliminate the pressure build up in the crank case under boost.

Eliminate the PCV, and make sure the breather(s) are unrestricted and free flowing.

eliminate the PVC?
why?
it is POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION .
it helps control blow by, and relieve pressure
in the motor, ALL motors have blow by.and pressure.
your breathers vent the crankcase, but in doing so put vapors and blow by all over the engine,
the PVC only works with vacuum, so it does NOT hamper any performance , it merely
assists in controlling the blowby.
but its your motor!

Keeping the PCV working properly keeps your oil cleaner. Blowby gases equal dirty and acidic oil. Old well known knowledge.

Which will turn into negative crankcase ventilation under boost if the PCV doesn't seal 100%.

I have my breather hose routed down near the control arm old school.

Changing the oil every 2000 miles does wonders also. But is everyone going to do that like I do.

Does a PCV keep it cleaner? Yes but the negatives outweigh the positives, PUN INTENDED!!!

I did this:
http://turbobuick.com/forums/threads/crankcase-evacuation-with-the-lt1-smog-pump-how-to.234420/

and it made an instant difference in minimizing oil leaks just as others have posted. My car went from a puddle of oil after a single run to a drip or two.
It made such a large improvement I just installed a second one on the car to make sure there is plenty of vacuum pulling the excess pressure out of the crankcase when I run high boost. The thread describes two different pumps and I have one of each on mine. The "two-wire" pump that's not mentioned much in the thread pulls a lot more air than the "three-wire" one.

Check the oil drain line under the center cartridge. That will leak like crazy at full boost, run down the front cover, along the oil pan seam, then dump all over your crossover which then produces a crapload of white smoke. ..under boost.

what does every possible spot actually mean? Is it coming out of the dipstick tube? out of the breathers?

Big white clouds are usually antifreeze out the exhaust.

X2 ! Fuel issue? The rubber hose on my FP burst on a pass taking my HGs out instantly.

What was your fuel problem?

It does nothing to control blow by under boost and potentially let's manifold pressure leak past it under boost and sucks hot oily blow by vapors into the intake under vacuum which is not desirable in a high performance engine.

I had similar issues in the past. I currently run a stock pcv to catch can to rjc check valve to throttle body. Then, I have the valve covers plumbed together an "T"eed off to a catch can then to the CAI. ZERO issues and the pcv catch can does catch some oil.
