Tonight I was putting the rear back in my project car and the jack stands shifted. I will be sore tomorrow but I was'nt really hurt, thank God. I am pissed and a little shaken though.:frown: Damage is that the spare tire well is dented and I'm sore. I'm also a little toasted right now. I guess that I'm a little tougher than I expected though.

I've bled more on this car than any other Justin. Just want to get her on the road again.

Don't get hurt until I get my blower speed situation fixed:biggrin::eek:

make sure you where safety glasses. i know i dont and im guilty but im trying to when i think i need to. bert show your eye  you ever get surgery?

That's why I always laughed at people when they told be to pull the jack out after I put in jack stands. I always left it under the car. THIS is why I do. I know what it's like Charles. My iroc about killed me when I was underneath it putting a starter in.

Put concrete blocks under that car when you get the courage to go back underneath. Who gives a sh!t if you scuff that newly painted frame. It's not worth the risk. THat way you can push on it and hammer on it as much as you want. I'm glad you didn't get seriously hurt. NO car is worth anybody getting hurt. This should be a lesson to everyone-think about what you are doing and what could happen before you start.

That's exactly why I posted this. I remember a few years befor I joined another member was killed when the truck he was working on fell on him. His wife that he met on the board came home from work and found him. I found out when she came on to say hi after several years. Things can happen before you know it and I can honestly say my chest is sore as hell this morning. I got lucky and admit it. It really did seem lke somo when it came down on me.

Dang Charlie, so glad your ok!!!

,, get some back ups under that frame please!

Ty

Glad you made it out! I just yanked my rearend out last night. I also put my drag wheels under the car frame and always be sure to leave jacks and have my phone within reach when under the car in case I need to call for help when working alone.

I have been to several dead people under cars. THe worst was a family guy that was tinkering with his car. Wife and daughter went shopping and came home to find him dead under car. Daughter was 11 yrs old.
I always take several looks at the stands just to make sure everything is seated properly. Leaving the floor jack under car is good if space permits.

Hope your okay and get to feeling better soon! I used to Always work on my cars at night when the family went to bed but when I had a close call kind of similar I stopped right there while I was ahead.. Never be too carefull....

My worst nightmare. How did this happen?

Glad you are alright.

Seems the floor of the shop has dried out since we put the roof over it. I took a chunk of dirt that was dug up when she fell and it crumbled like it was dust. I will be putting some other supports under her so nothing like this ever happens again. I was lucky, no doubt.

I've never had anything like this happen before and I'll make sure it won't again. Here's the axle back in and I circled where my shoulder dented the spare wheel well.

reply to jack stands

Well definitley glad to see you r ok ,but hey we are all guilty of getting in a hurry now and then, this little deal you had reminds me of when you clean something on the wire wheel with no glasses on (oh it will just take a second i will be fine) and thats when bad sh$t happens, come on guys we all have done it. The last time i did that i got a little piece of wire stuck in my upper cheek just below my eye, I figured that was the good lord giving me a freebee and saying hey hard head put your glasses on, so now my glasses hang over the switch to turn it on if you have to move them to turn it on you might as well put them on your face and out of the way.I think you just got your freebee my friend be safe.

Glad you are ok man. Had some close calls myself. Car shifted on the jackstand as well. Glad I had the jack and I keep one of the wheels under while I'm working on the car. Now I tell my wife that I will be working under the car and to check up on me.
