LMAO!!!! oh i couldn't resist!!!

glad your ok, bud! be careful!

Well I just got back from visiting with a friend and watching part of the series. I also just took a deep breath and it's official. I have a broken rib. I heard it pop just now. This is gonna be a long winter and I won't get what I wanted done as soon as I though. I need to be very careful not to puncture a lung by accident so I will be doing some lighter work for sure.

Pookie happens guys. I just want to make sure it doesn't happen to any one else. Since my ribs popped I can breath easier but large breaths hurt right now. I broke 2 ribs before while moving from Texas to Tennessee and had to work my uncles farm when I got there. I can still do most of the work I need to but I just have to be careful about what I do now.

one lucky dude, chalk one up for your angel....

Look who's talking. At least you can drive yours now. LOL

I hope this serves as a warning to others so that no one else ever has this happens to them. I really hate to post this but I'm 46 now and have been working on cars since I was 18. This really is the first time I've ever been hurt like this and want to prevent it from happening to some one else.

Seems the floor of the shop has dried out since we put the roof over it. I took a chunk of dirt that was dug up when she fell and it crumbled like it was dust.

You had your jackstands on dirt??!!?? Yeah no way I'd do that without at least a couple of pieces of wood to sit them on. Maybe it's time to pour a little bit of concrete.

I would never put jack stands on dirt, that's crazy. Like I said, concrete blocks if you are gonna be on dirt or gravel.

OMG....glad you are ok.

I would not trust cinderblocks, they can break also. Multiple safety measures for sure.

Glad you are ok. I lost a good friend of mine years ago although he had his car on drive on ramps, got in a hurry and forgot to chock tire, took the drive shaft out and it rolled back on him suffocating him...I have a lift in my shop now, best 3k ever spent.

Been there. I rolled under mine with nothing but a hydraulic jack just for a second to check some exhaust noise. Well a second turned into 5 or so minutes and the car was sloooowly coming down, by time I figured it out I was pinned . I don't know how I thought of it as my life was flashing before my eyes, but the jack handle and my foot were close enough that I was able to jack the GN back up with my foot . Never again, scared the crap out of me.

glad your ok! did you have to change your underwear when you finally got out? i know i would have.

my brother was friends with a guy on the syty board and he was working under his truck with a jack and no jack stands and the truck came down on him and he didn't make it.from what i was told the jack stands were right there next to the truck and jack.

I've heard of quite a few people that have been crushed by a faulty jack. I never leave just a jcak under a car. It's way to dangerous. Seals can and do fail. Mistakes are made all the time and I got very lucky to say the least. I just don't want anyone else to have this experience. I didn't have to change my shorts but as I was pinned I littereally cussed. MOTHER F_CKER! I can look at this as a warning to make sure that I secure the car much better in the future. I will try and put the wheels on the rear so I can put her down and turn it around so I can take the front end out to repair the rest of the car. I just traided a case of VR1 for a new and better condition frame so I need to get ready to swap them out now.

That's why I always laughed at people when they told be to pull the jack out after I put in jack stands. I always left it under the car. THIS is why I do. I know what it's like Charles. My iroc about killed me when I was underneath it putting a starter in.

Put concrete blocks under that car when you get the courage to go back underneath. Who gives a sh!t if you scuff that newly painted frame. It's not worth the risk. THat way you can push on it and hammer on it as much as you want. I'm glad you didn't get seriously hurt. NO car is worth anybody getting hurt. This should be a lesson to everyone-think about what you are doing and what could happen before you start.

Charlie, I'm glad you are not hurt any worse than you are. You are lucky. My mother lost one of her brothers when she was younger to a car falling off of a jack. Because of that I always made sure I was being safe by doing this until I learned DO NOT trust cinderblocks under a car. They can crumble. I used to do this to my Camaro. Had one block I used dozens of times, until the last time. The subframe barely missed my foot when the car fell. Now I use jackstands and I put the wheels up under the car incase the stands shift.

You're one lucky man, Charlie. Gravity never takes a vacation, but you need to!

Not in the cards right now Dave. I already have her back on the ground ready to turn around and take the nose off. Then the frame comes out to swap it. I do have 4 more days of vacation left and I'll probibly take them to work on the car.

This has to be one of my worst nightmares. The sad thing about these accidents is that it happens all the time. I don't trust the little jack stands so I always place jacks and old rims under the car as a safe guard. Years ago I was installing hydraulics on my 1966 Pontiac Bonneville and the stop on the jackstand failed. Luckily I had my Craftsman toolbox under the car with me. By chance, I placed the tool box under the passenger side rear frame horn. That tool box saved me. I was all alone too.
