I have the opportunity to enter (actually already did) my GN in an event next Saturday.

It is a Exotic/Supercar get together here in Dallas at an abandoned airstrip. It's a 1/2 mile run from a dig.

So the question is (I know I will get my a$$ handed to me at the end) is it safe to go for a WOT blast in OD to try and keep up? There is quite a list of nasty cars so far. Mostly German, but there's a couple of vettes and a TT viper.

Just thought it would be fun.
 
I'd keep in drive and lock the converter, via an over ride switch. But i've never done such a thing like this before, and no plans to either. Either way that's what i'd assume would be alright to do.
 
As long as you're aware that you'll get your ass handed to you, racing supercars a 1/2 mile.
 
Well what kind of numbers does ur car put down? If it is a straight run I dont think ull get anything handed to ya unless ur car is bone stock. Its not a rally, its another 1/4 further then usual.
 
We've run the 1/2 mile and mile in Nebraska since 2002.

Run it in Drive until it stops pulling or 115, then manually shift to OD.

Otherwhise it will shift to OD early, the car will bog and spend an 1/8 mile trying to recover.

Stock Vipers, Corvettes, etc. only run 130-140 in the 1/2 mile. A stock GN should at least run 125 (115 - 119 if you leave it in OD).

FAST!!! cars run 150+ in the 1/2 mile.

The fastest 1/2 mile Car at Nebraska ran 177 (A TT viper with 1000+ RWHP)

The fastest cars in the Mile in 2007 was a Misubishi Evo 6 running 40 psi of boost that ran 215.9. Ron Adee was 2nd at 215.1 with his tube frame, carbon bodied twin turbo big block chevy powered Viper Road race car.

My 502 Pontiac 2+2 runs about 136 in the 1/2 mile and 160 in the mile, but I hope to run 140 in the 1/2 mile my TTA in 2008 (2.7:1 rear axle and running the 1/2 mile in Drive).
 
Yeah, I'm FAR from Stock. I do know that I will get eaten up at the top end. Any way, they won't let me enter now. They said that it is for exotic or German cars only. Funny........a Vette is exotic? I think their afraid of an NHRA legal street/strip car making the rich boys look like retards.

i agree, they will have alot of guys with these german cars that won't want to come back, if they get out run'd by a Buick v-6. The hell with them.
