Some hostage "think tank experts" are saying that the pirates are "businessmen" and are smart enuf to realize that getting dead does nothing for them.
If operating on that theory is logical, then coralling all the ships involved, could give the navy the upper hand.
"You turn over the hostage ships, & we will set your sorry asses safely back on land. No harm, no foul, no ransom."
Do not agree to OUR demands, you are in for a bad day.
The bull$hit of the "tail wagging the dog", has gone on far too long.
As Grumpy has said.. scramble the communications, and remove thier ability to coordinate movements, etc. [Most likely already being tried??]

Just speculating here. I am not a commo expert but, perhaps they have some US military communication equipment. This equipment frequency hops and is very hard to scramble.

Not sure if this is what they are using though and it is purely speculation.

Geez guys, this is Somalia.... if we cannot beat these pirates:rolleyes: We are looking real good as a world power right now... no wonder Kin Yung Jim or whatever the fukk his name is isn't afaraid of us let alone the real threats to the US.

Exactly.

Who here on this board thought it would still be going on after we heard that a destroyer was in the area with the FBI on board?

What is ironic to me is that the ship carrying humanitarian aid has made it to port and guess where some of the aid is going??

Somalia. Home of the Pirates.

For everyone that thinks we can just pick off the pirates on the lifeboat here is very good interview with an expert on the lifeboat. It's a radio interview but it's very good at explaining exactly what the lifeboat is and it's capabilities. It's designed to be dropped into the water in an emergancy typically in bad weather so it's pretty much unsinkable and has only a few small windows. Do a Google search for free fall lifeboats and you'll get a better idea of how it would be pretty much impossible to snip 4 pirates without endangering the Captain. They are stuck pretty much in a sealed capsul in 100* heat. Unless they hook up with the mother ship eventually they will give up since there is nowhere to go. Don't forget, these are just pirates, not jihardist, their only motivation is money.
Listen to the whole interview:

NO **** !!! we no longer have a spine !! as the "kidnapper" in "Die Hard" said.. Americans say they are goin to do something BUT they never do  .. We need to do things fast !! It's better to get their attention right away:p BUT I don't see that happening anytime soon

thats the good ol "american" way  we will bomb the **** out of them and then spend billions rebuilding what we blew up.

Sounds like..

the USN is already on this track. Posted about an hr ago:
"at least two American ships and U.S. Navy surveillance aircraft are deterring pirate ships and skiffs from contact with the lifeboat".
Being the USN knocked out all communications in Lybia, when they bombed Mommar's a$$ into submission, they can shut these morons down.

The easiest solution would be to find out what villages these pirates are from. Next you find their families and other loved ones. You take them hostage and start executing one for every hour they continue to hold the ship

Or you can just bomb the villages. Collateral damage will be abundant. That's the point. You can't reason with these people. This is why we lose so many people. We handicap ourselves so that morons that don't even wear shoes are given protected status and thus become a problem for a country with 1 billion dollar stealth bombers. We allow them to wage war however they see fit but limit our own tactics to the most "humane"

We nearly annihilated every japanese city with fire bombs and destroyed two with atomic bombs and we are having trouble with a rag tag group of pirates?

Insane.

And wouldn't it be great to be the soldier that's ordered to kill a 4 year old daughter of one of the pirates?

yup.. thats what we call collateral damage!! Oh wait.. lets send in special forces to get that 4 year old out and take her for an ice cream  You have woman an children tryin to kill you and your just goin to stand there .. Good for you..

I've yet to see any child pirates from Somalia. Maybe there are some in Southern Asia but we're not having issues there.

I agree with everyone else that violence in this case is probably the best way to go. However, the idea of holding people hostage just comes out of frustration about the situation and that I can understand.

A show of physical force is the only thing these pirates are going to understand. Whether that be a few headless corpses or even a full Naval blockade of their country it has to be done soon or these private companies will just keep paying the ransom money.

But of course for anything to really get done it'll take the death of one of our sailors at the hands of a pirate. And I sincerely hope it never comes to that.

Just saw it come across Fox News, captain has been freed, three thugs dead one in custody. (too bad they don't have him in TX, he woud be well on the way to some much needed "shock therapy".)

And wouldn't it be great to be the soldier that's ordered to kill a 4 year old daughter of one of the pirates?

Would it be any different than the hundreds of thousands of bombs we have dropped on our enemies cities, towns, villages, and homes in the past?. Is it somehow worse when you can see their faces, or do you think it's more ok when it's done from a climate controlled cockpit with no recoil?

Mind you, I never suggested the killing of children as a target. I am however more concerned with the well being of American citizens who themselves happen to be fathers, brothers, and sons. The problem with this globalism crap is that we now have to give non-Americans the same status and protections as our citizens. That's insanity and it's why this country is collapsing under itself.

Thank God he was freed, but we can see the insanity already beginning... The FBI is involved and is treating the surviving pirate as a "criminal". How nice. Maybe we can find him guilty and put him up in a facility that gives him 14,000 dollars worth of health care a year, three square meals, cable TV, and every accommodation so that he can worship his god multiple times a day. He just won the lottery.

Shoot him in the foot to get the blood flowing, then throw the sucker overboard with a note around his neck that reads "this is what we do to Pirates".

Who ever in the FBI thinks we need to bring a 16 year old pirate to the US for "justice" needs to be fired.

WTF kind of people are in government these days? The Geneva convention or US criminal law has ZERO to do with African Pirates.

Job well done! Excellent results. The pirates let themselves be exposed and that ended that. It's too bad the 4th survived.

He will be telling his friends to turn themselves in to enjoy the new found freedom in an American country club .. Maybe they can hook up with Bernie Madoff and invest some of there millions they still have :p
