Gene, believe me, after your behavior on this thread, I wouldn't have a problem calling you anything I felt like calling you to your face. Anytime, anywhere, big boy.
I see why people want to kick you ass and im one of them now..

Likewise, I'm sure.
Don't throw rocks when you live in a glass house, my friend.
(Like wise?)I have no problems with the people on this forum like you do and im not your friend..

Gene I wouldn't let Donnie get under your skin. He just thinks outside the box. Which sometimes ain't all bad, but name calling sometimes is so childish. Just wish some people could be mature enough to take constructive criticism.
Did you really write 'constructive criticism'. 'Constructive criticism'? Please quote for me some of that 'constructive criticism' that Gene so graciously provided. I'm dying to know what others are looking at, and considering to be 'constructive criticism'. What a joke.

Let me spell it out for you. You have a problem with me. Not a problem with other people on this forum. With me.

Next victim for Don to insult is anybody that disagrees with him

Disagreement I can handle. Constructive criticism I can handle. Actually, I put a very high value on constructive criticism. The operative word there is constructive.
On the other hand, condescending individuals that make it a habit of posting condescending remarks is a totally different matter. Learn the difference between the two and you might get along with people better.
Look up the word. Condescending.

I m just one of the people that cant get along with you thats all.
Now lets just leave it at that .
No last dig just leave me alone and i will leave you alone before it gets bigger.
Deal?

Given the target bhp range that I gave Tony a few pages back, 1,530 - 1,580 bhp, and the past car weight of 3,301, I'm looking for a mph range of 171.70 - 173.86. I'm not sure how much weight this new build might add at this point. There is some other weight that will be going on the car.
The above MPHs are trap speeds. Not actual. The difference is about a mile and a half. Add that to the above.
I really doubt that would be some sort of record. Maybe hp/cid?

Donnie, that mph is low..... why you short changing yourself ? You know that 1580 bhp gives you more mph than that.

Do you build the engine for, and tune your big race car? And if not, why is that?

And no. I guess I'm not a tuner. I just somehow slapped a bunch of MISMATCHED parts together, used some very, very uncommon system elements, configurations and tuning strategies, set the initial timing (now, that there was important) and managed to get me a daggum 8. Hot damn. Imagine that. (said using a deep southern drawl)
Good grief!
Yes with underwhelming performance. How many passes have you made running an 8.7? What were the other passes? I see no consistency.

I haven't been following this thread too much. I am still trying to figure out what you are doing. You have a very complicated engine bay, a giant turbo, NOS to spool the turbo, and you are .18 quicker than my street car with small valve GN1's (1.9 1.6), 3 bolt turbo, on gasoline, 26psi boost, "small" hydraulic roller grind cam (with solid lifters), and from what I gather, I am almost 150lbs heavier race weight on drag radials.
With stage 2 heads and a 91mm turbo, I hope you go high 7's@178+ to make anything you are doing worth while.
When I pop my hood, I can see my engine. I have been driving the car all summer to car shows, and only changed spark plugs once. 3 passes at the track under throttle 9.24 on slicks, 9.02, 8.94 on drag radials. 2 other passes that were aborted because of traction issues. I can launch on the foot brake at 5 psi and get 1.32 60's.

Would you call that a mismatched combination?

My combo or his???
My combo works well, proving you don't need big valve GN1r's (or stage 2 heads) and a giant cam (230+) just to go into the 8's.

You also have a turbine housing that is tiny........I'm just amazed on the power your making, a true 8 second daily driver!

No not your combination.
91mm T6 turbo, cam with high overlap, etc, 8.7's, it sounds like a dream combination to me. IMO the only reason it ran those times with such a odd "turbo" cam is because the backpressure is super low, resulting in slow spool up, but just hide that with NOS.
I understand thinking outside the box, and admire his fab skills, patience, and ideas, but if it doesn't work, then it is time to try a different direction. No it can be argued that it works (and it does if high 8's with a 91mm is working), but TSL and TSO set ups are faster, simpler, and spool without NOS.

Wait a sec didn;t you just run 8.9's with a 76mm turbo and a full weight car? With backpressure to the moon? So is backpressure really that critical?
