I guess nobody ever stored a car outside for any period of time, or even in a garage for that matter. If it's bare metal than it's going to rust just from the exposure from the humidity.I'm still sticking to my guns on 11K. That car has been sitting somewhere for a long time. Like I said if I had to guess I'd say all the mods were done when that car was fairly new. Those mods are strickly from the 80's. MC exhaust, open K&N and HyperTech chip. Somebody probaly had it sitting in their garage thinking that some day they were going to get large bucks for it.

As for the second car it looks like that car was sitting in a body shop for a couple of months. That looks like bondo dust. Not fire extingisher.

I agree. My GN's have been garage pampered all their lives. EXCEPT, they had to sit out one winter in MI. Never driven, sitting under high quality car covers. But you should see the rusty mess under their hoods after that!!!

Mental Note! POST PICS OF ANY HIGH DOLLAR TR HERE!

You guys are good:biggrin:

You really believe the car has 11K and it has a aftermarket dash cluster?

Its a nice car, but what throws the red flag is it has a altered dash odometer, if it had the original one, i highly doubt we would be here picking this car apart.

It could have lower mileage like around 50K or less, but for 11K it sure has quite a few points of interest that would be consistant with a higher mileage car.

25K for a 11K car seems a little high
25K for THIS 11K car,.... No thank you

Has anyone done a carfax on it yet?

The seats, door panels and steering wheel look like they are from an 11k mile car.The deciding factor for me is the steering wheel,it is mint.

wow i need track mode switch that way when ive reconfigured my windshield washer jug to hold a fifth of Knob Creek with hose comming through the dash I can pour myself a drink and hit the track mode button..wooohoooo

Anyway I agree with Bryan, 11k aint squat, i just couldnt see anyone driving a car off the lot and then saying well hell im gonna swap out this and that, thats somthing one might do when the car has say 30K or when the second owner;) buys it and then swaps out a few things like the other cluster with the odometer at 000000 then he puts about 11k on it and sells it off to ole Junior Samples used car emporium
BR109 come on down

Oh boy, I can see already that this is not going to go good. I am probably going to lose a few friends and maybe make a few enemies on this. Oh well.
I believe that that car could very likely be a 11K mile car. Maybe stored outdoors, maybe under a cover, car port, maybe cold weather country. I am not saying that I would own that car, I wouldn't, but I don't see anything there that confirms to me that it is anything other than a poorly cared for and poorly maintained 11K mile car. Steering wheel mint, about correct amount of luster or lack of it, and about the correct amount of wrinkles in driver seat. Odometer digits all line up factory perfect, but not all did out of the factory, As far as modding on of these cars at 11K, I began modding mine at about 12K and it now has about 22K on it. It's condition does make it appear that it's picture should belong on a milk carton, though. Any '87 car that has been neglected the way that car appears to have been would need new tires, no doubt. Where's my flame suit at?

Yep. It's a two member club. With me and Gary.I agree with Gary. Poorly maintained car. Like I said in my first post. It probally has less than 11K if it has one of those funky adapters that make the speedo read correctly. If the adapter makes the odometer spin twice as fast than it certainly has less than 11K on it. All I see is the 145MPH face stuck on the stock speedo. The numbers line up like they are supposed to. What gave you the impression that it was tampered with other than not looking stock?

I guess the only way to tell is to pull those wheels off. The brake pads and shoes should have their Delco compound numbers and build dates on them. Not to mention the rear drums should have a Tinnerman clip on one stud to keep the drum from flying off when the car was assembled. It should have the stock brakes if it is a true low mileage car.

I did notice all of the stickers are there under the hood. The label on the coil,PM,cruise and accelerator cables, fan warning, etc.

You know we need to do this more often. I like playing "Pick The Car Apart".;)

If the car had an adapter to convert a metric Speedo to Read miles (60KM/hr = 60 mph), the Odometer would have .6 X the miles of an un modified speedo and not 2X the miles.

Do you still think it only has 11K miles on it?

I always though that with the overlay, for the speedometer to work correctly it needed to use a transducer in the speedo cable to slow down the needle.

If the car uses the factory speedo gear in the tranny, then with the overlay, the needle will always show your driving too fast, install the transducer and it slows down the speedo needle for near accurate MPH.

When you do that, it also slows down the mileage racked up:cool: In this case

At least, thats what ive seen the ones with overlays, and not the entire cluster with the expensive flux capacitor reducers to slow down the speedo gear;)

Thats what i based my opinion on, overlay/aftermarket speedo/ odo cluster = bogus mileage

I know that, but the 145 mph speedo uses the same graduations as a km speedo. Swap in a .6 adapter and the KM graduations are now mile graduations, but the ODO only registers .6 of a mile for every mile traveled.

I didnt realize that they used the same reducer as the KM speedo, learn something new everyday.

Hey buddy!

I was thinking to myself and started posting, i know that bare metal parts start to rust, start out a little hazy and speky dottish, then the time it takes to get flakey is a really long time, unless the car is living in a underground vault.
Take a look at the first car, scroll up to the rubber cowl trim piece that seals up to the bottom of the hood. Do you see those 2 metal clips that hold the plastic black lines that go over the ac/heater box. Man those arent rusty, those are crusty!
The water pump snout is really rusted as they all would, so are the bolts. No damn way is it 11K, its 111K
I see a very nice car, but no fn way would i believe it was a 11K car.

This is derons car, it has 189K and motor never apart. He lives 2 blocks from me.
Not as rusty, and 178K more
Lets pick his car apart :)

Well, as long as we have two pages of picking nits, let's see a photo that isn't over three years old. And, lose the ricer blue wires. Also, there's no tether on the roach clip holding the WG rod on. ;)

Sho nuff! I bought it with those ricer blue ghey hoses, got my black MSD wires sitting in a box along with new black hoses.

Here is what the car looked like last spring, the motor is a little further along.

Lots of new chrome pieces for it too:D
Oh yeah, i sold the 6152 and now it has a te45a and a pte front mount

The only thing that has 11K on it is the K&N,
there are too many things that look suspicious.
little stuff like Autozone radiator cap, to big stuff like the bumper filler being a different color.
Very nice interior but I thinks it has more like 40-50k.
Caveat Emptor.

the KM speedo doesn't use a reducer, but an 85 mph = 140 kmph so a metric speedo will read out as miles if you use a .6 reducer.

The original "145 mph speedos" were metric units with a .6 adapter before the overlay's came out, back in the bad old days.

Im not sure, i think those seats look awesome! Maybe some should email him or bring him here.

BW

The seats do look great. I wouldn't argue that. It just looked to me like they've been reupholstered. Why does the rest of the interior seem a duller grey than the seats? Myabe that's just how they are.
