Carmello this sucks i hope you find your cars and all is ok, come on guys anyone with info help him out he's good people and this souldn't happen to him or anyone for that matter

What the heck is going on here???? Why the sudden interest in Turbo Buicks? What are they doing with them? Seeing that this is a tight nit community, someone is bound to know and / or find out something about what is going on with these cars.

Glad mine is in the garage which is protected by a rather nast alarm system as well as a mote with mutant sea bass with lazer beams on their heads. ;)

They where for sale for a while thou, never know if it was a job?

and fwiw he didnt even have them insured , titles were still in prev owners names
the white one was just detailed with any flaw inside or out touched up so it was immaculate
its a total loss for him and he posted a 10k reward for their return

wasnt that long ago carmello had a TTA that was delivered to their old lot , it was stolen after being there 4 days on a rainy sunday night , he never got to drive it , they dragged two bmws out of the way to get the tta , he didnt have insurance on that one either

Wow...seems to be a good deal of TR theft back east lately...hope they get 'em back and in one piece!

My thots, exactly...What with the recent spate of TR's getting gone, I'd think that indoors when closing, would be the thing to do....
I'm out in the "country", and don't even leave my shop doors open while working on the 55....NO POINT in handing out "free" advertizing!

Just re read the entire post. Didn't realize Carmello had no coverage on those cars. Sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully someone will see or hear something that will help you get them back, or at least catch the people that did it to hold them accountable.

Seems a bit odd, that this good size car lot that is taking cars on consignment has no theft insurance on the cars on the lot,+ also no motion cameras on cars that are left out overnight + known to be targets,+ have been stolen from this same lot before.
I would just think it would be manditory to have insurance if you are a licensed dealer + are taking someones property under your care,in order to sell it.
After hearing about this, my 1st question to anybody going to consign a car for me,would be, Does your insurance cover any Damage or theft.

The police station is 800 ft away on the otherside of rt.73. Jersey cops dont play they stopped me 3 times right at that spot before entering the toll plaza for my tint and 1 time for my brakelight.

With all the TR thefts lately you'd think someone would set up a cloned Regal to a TR as a bait car, loaded full of explosives to detonate at will. Have a few cameras to ensure the car doesn't go off near a playground or something. Do this a few times you might scare the daylights out of a would be thief.

This is out of control. I'm new to the Buick community, is this common?

Uh, "common" isn't a strong enough word to describe it. Do a search, there was a recent rip off at Bowling Green. And it's not just TR's either. Someone tried stealing my '86 Olds Cutlass supreme twice back in '96. G body theft has been going on for a long time.

Guess the cops were on a donut run at the time?

Problem is (in this area) insurance rates are sky high for owning a car lot. My father and I looked into buying a car lot many years ago. You either have to put up an ugly 8 foot high fence around the place and carry minimal insurance, or insure all the cars and pay a ton of money in insurance premiums. So the win win is to have a consignment lot. You can make money by selling other people's cars, you have a low inventory dollar amount, and you don't have to insure the cars as it's something the car owner needs to deal with. Now they do carry over all insurance for the property but if a car on consignment gets stolen, then it's at the lots owners discretion to put in a claim or not. In this case the owner decided not to help Carmello out. So if your going to leave a car with a lot on consignment then you need to have it insured for loss. Thing that sucks is you can't keep classic insurance on the car now because it's outside and not locked in a garage.

There is a guy near me who submitted an "alarm" to Hot Rod magazine years ago. They did a thing on the best thought up car alarm systems. This guy had many caddy's stolen from his home over the years back in the 80's. His design (and it would work and full functional) was to have a huge piece of C4 under the drivers seat with a pressure switch in the seat. When you say down in the seat you had 15 seconds to turn a key that was located in the glove box. If you did not turn this key in 15 seconds... they would need a squeegee to find any remains after it went off. He figured at least they are not going to get away with my car! While Hot Rod said it was a great system, in our screwed up world you would go to jail for murder. I always thought about having him build one for me! :D My luck I'd get in the car and forget about it!
