200 4r in 72 lark???

hey guys, i was wondering how much would it cost to rebuild this trans to handle about 400 hp & tq??? i thought about rebuilding it myself. i have all the tools and can follow intructions pretty damn good. also the trans 2nd gear dosen't work, what could that be??? any help and opinions welcomed..

well can anybody tell me a reason that 2nd gear is not working??? and what would i have to do to make sure this trans handles about 400 hp & TQ at the crank?? i saw this kit http://www.tciauto.com/service_kits/index.htm the super pro kit. is this good enough for a rebuild??

2nd gear problem is most likely burnt band, out of adjustment maybe but doubtful, or servo problem but prolly the band is shot. Here's link to answer your ? on a rebuild.

2nd gear not working

90 % of the time it is a burnt band or low line pressure. the other 10% could be a stuck 1-2 shift valve train or the wrong shift valve spring. does the car shift a manual 1-2 from low to second? put the car on a lift or with the wheels off the ground and place the selector in low gear and accelerate to 30 mph. then, have an assistant take a pry bar and press on the servo cover. if the car shifts to 2nd this means the servo and band are properly assembeled. shift the car to 2nd and try to push the servo cover in. if you cant, this means oil is being supplied to the band but the band is burnt, therefore, it cannot hold the drum. if you can push on the cover, (remember your in d2 now @ 30 mph) this means the valve body is not sending oil to the servo. pretty easy huh?
