FYI, The pressure cycling switch is on the accumulator (not receiver/dryer).

Did the switch correct the problem?

Gotta get another recharge and get the switch set to the right psi value. The system immediately blew 'warm' after the noise started. I'm thinking the high pressure found the weakest point in the system to escape. I checked all the tubing and fittings and found oil and dye around the orifice tube fitting.

Some great info guys, Im thinking of doing this myself too..... Question, what was the harbor freight part # for the vacuum pump you used? Thanks

I converted mine 8 years ago and it was at least as cold as the R12. Harbor freight gauges and vacuum pump. I had to replace the compressor again last year. seems the rebuilt ones don't last as long as the original.
