Rear clamping force?

Bear with me;

It is noted that drums and disc brakes have their limits under varying driving situation's.
Discs having improved braking under extreme conditions with drum brakes having greater clamping force.
Given the option of having a 9" w/big drums, seems to be a preference over disc's for the drag racing fraternity.

Question: Is there any reason for concern to keeping either of these options on the table when
putting a system together?

[I'm thinking big drums are the path to follow for drag racing.]

I'll take disc over drums every day of the week no matter what the application is.
