Viagra would help you work with your wood Aj.:D You knew it was coming squid.:p

are you kidding? viagra is the last thing I need! wife already looks at me crazy and yells "Put that rusty bayonet away! The wars over!"

consult a doctor if you have an erection lasting longer than 4 hours? Ha.... for wusses!

Well today I took a day off, I didnt feel like working for the man! So I took care of some stuff that needs to go away... Im getting desperate to work on my truck but i cant really until my plate is clean of all the other garbage cluttering my shop...

So like I said the other day I was grinding some dart heads, had to make some pushrod clearance so I could finish assembling the motor and hopefully fire it up this weekend and give it away! one step closer to being done!

Anyways, Charlie always says I need to post more pictures - so today I got a nice new cell phone with a decent camera in it.... and away we begin with the pic taking. heres todays progress.

i like to see what others are up too. you see what i am working on.
cleaning the garage is a royal pain. hate doing it but i have too.
BTW charlie did you get the email i sent you? i dont think it went through.

Nice Aj. Looks like an early block, is it?

Got it Matt, just haven't really had time to look at the pics in the last week. I just got back from a service call and I left at 1300. It's 1900 right now and this is the earliest I've made it to the house in 2 weeks and now I've got to go out again just after getting home.:(

yea its a 65 327 from an impala. I like the earlier blocks myself, I have a thing for small journals and heavy castings. Thought I didnt get a damn thing more finished last night cause the cops think I look suspicious..............

Damn Charlie it sounds like your running ragged! dont over do it !

Today should be a slow day and I can relax some. Everything comes all at once and then I get a couple of days to chill.

Been a busy again for me lately....... landscaping has become the wifeys new project and unfortunatly im the grunt and mule in this effort. 6 pallets of retaining wall block later, I get a moment in the shop.

So not much progress to post.... I beaded the intake and tinned 'er all up, whacked on the balancer for a early non threaded crank and called it a day. so here is tuesdays progress. Its a damn shame none of you live close to me.... I will fire up this motor on saturday and will bbq and drink for the birthing and break in.

I never saw an SBC crank with out a bolt holding the balancer on unless someone broke it off in the crank Aj.

Really? I runs into em all the time. Most of the early cranks I use are pre 63 and arent drilled for the bolt they were all press fit.. I have a tool that I use to drill it, but the balancer goes on first to use it. Go look for an early crank and check it out, its gone, and the crank is .002 thicker.

YOu have to remember I haven't worked on that many SBC engines unless it was in the car still. I have done a bunch of Buicks and other engines but not chebys as a rule.;)

lol, dont feel bad charlie, It just happens to be my bread and butter.......... in the 10 years ive been building engines, ive had 1 buick v6 order, 1 pontiac v8 order, 2 ford v8s and a bazillion sb and bb chevys. I couldnt be anymore tired of building the sbc!

Its a N/A... its hard as hell to find a 3.8 around here, lots of turbo buick guys here. Ill contact him and check it out.

Had an idea last night... a .030 high compression, E85 N/A build... I have two 3.8s at the moment and looking for a 3rd, so why not? What do you guys think? Flat pistons, shaved and ported heads, ported high rise aluminum intake, headers, massive cam, MSD ignition and a E85 holly carb... would 750cfm be pushing it?

If you can get a set of 350 Buick pistons that're flat top and it would get you in the 9:1 plus level. Then consider angle milling the head to reduce the combustion chamber but you might end up with some valve clearence issues so you'd have to check everything while putting it together.

dont waste your time.

unless your going to be running compression in the 11.1 (gas) 12.5-1 / 13-1 range (e85) then its a useless venture.

the buick needs crazy compression to get anything out of it in NA form, and for a carb id suggest a 950 cfm unit.

there are only a few people I know who attempt to run the NA motors, my cousin Erik and FuzzyGN. (ha both eriks!)

Fuzzy has the combo right, good flowing tight chamber heads, a grip of serious compression, and the rods and slugs to do it.... cost is comparable to a mild stage.

my cousin, he on the other had tried exactly what your suggesting... poor motor cant get away from itself. complete dog that has him feeling sapped for the money he spent, just needs boost..........
