A set of standard rules is what brings about innovation to a class.

There were at least 5 guys running quicker than your proposed 8.80 index: Ted A, Dave F, Tony G, Avon T, and Chris L. As far as I know, Chris is the only guy who broke because he pushed his car. Dave broke a timing belt, but it had nothing to do with how fast he was going.

its not my proposed 8.80 index....just saying that the class is going to have a hard time getting new racers... and Rich broke in Columbus...

True but I don't count as I was never really a player anyway so me breaking shouldn't affect the rest of the guys that ran well and kept their cars together, kudos to them.

I am reevaluating what will be done with the car as it will sit for awhile and at this point I could care less as next year isn't even in the picture for me at this point.

I hope that I didn't start a major controversey over what the car ran this weekend. In no way should this be something negative for TSO, if anything it should be looked on as a possitive. I was trying to do two things:

1. Be the first stock suspension v-6 buick in the 7's. Kind of a personal goal of mine for quite sometime.

2. See if the engine / driveline can stand up to more power than a TSO legal car can put out. The engine, convertor, trans, and suspension all worked as they should. This has given me more confidence as to how it will hold up in TSO trim.

When Kerney's TSM car went 8's it didn't kill the class. When I TRY to go 7's in outlaw trim it shouldn't kill TSO.

I'd like to thank the following little people(just kidding!):
Carl and Hollie Hartline for great parts and "magic fingers tuning"
RPE for building one mother of an engine!
HR Parts for great suspension parts that make the thing go straight
Dusty Bradford for spec'ing a convertor that was dead-on
Extreme Automatics for a tranny that shifts perfect after ALOT of runs!
Rigid Racecars for building the headers and all the fab work

Also a big thanks to Ken Hagood for helping me with the car this weekend. And to Mike Booher, John Schmidt, and Jim Rock for the fellowship and for saving me a spot in the pits on Saturday.

Dave, if you don't mind, let me know when you are going out next locally. I'd love to watch, film, or help out.

I apologize for excluding Rich. Much like Ficus, I assumed his "unfortunate problems" were not a result of him pushing the car too hard. Anywho... Congratulations again to Davey FICUS

Congratulations buddy!!!!
I think it's awesome to see your dream finally starting to come true.

To think, this is the pic that started it all.

To quote Laz's famous saying, "Put the fuel on 50 and the boost on 30 and you're golden!"

Congrats bro, I'm proud of you.

Congrats Dave, thats crazy fast. Just out of curiousity, what made this a outlaw pass? Was it just because it was not at an event? Unbelievable!!!!!!!

WOW! 172 mph! 86, outlaw trim means it wasn't either a qualifying or eliminations pass at a TSO event with the car weighed after the pass. In this case to pick up that much mph I have to think he was testing a new turbo, but that is sheer speculation on my part :-). Way to go, Dave!

Outlaw could also be a term for the naysayers because the run didn't happen in a TSO sanctioned race event and/or car was not scaled and/or car wasn't peer teched, etc, etc, ect. So the term Outlaw was created.

Not true Billy.......Dave's integrity and genuineness and class as a racer has always been above reproach with me and if he told me he did it in TSO trim at his track on a weekend I for one would believe him whether the car was scaled, tech or whatever.

It's quite an accomplishment no matter how you put it and no need to spin it any other way.

Just my two cents.

He was not using a legal turbo. He was shooting for 7's and wasn't concerned with being TSO legal.

I was just refering to the term "OUTLAW". Outlaw could also be refered to any of the Buick heads up classes, also.

I was NOT talking about Dave or anyone specific. I already know about Dave's integrity unlike some others. I am not spinning anything around, so don't even go there.

I don't see any naysayers here. Just a bunch of guys happy for Dave and his accomplishment.

Not sure where I see Rich putting a spin on anything....

I must be seeing/reading things

Neither do I. You guys are the ones putting the spin on things. I just made a general statement and is being taken out of context. Nor did I mention anyone, either.

I, too am happy for Dave.

I just added to a post on what "OUTLAW" meant, that's it. Wow how things can get turned around.

I think that maybe I should have elaborated more in my previous post about what made my car TSO outlawed. Since my wife and I had our baby early I wasn't able to go to Cecil for the final TSO race. I really missed being there with freinds and having a chance at getting the points lead. Anyway next year I plan on running the TSO series as well as some local heads up classes. I borrowed a GT55-91 and went to the track on saturday to see how it worked, I also took my ballast out of the car but I don't know what it weighed. The boost was turned WAY up ( 41 #s ) as I thought I might have a shot at a 7 second pass if everything was perfect. Needless to say I didn't get the 7 but it did run decent.

Anyway I don't see how this affects TSO because it deffintely wasn't in legal trim. I just wanted to see if the engine could handle it and passed the test. Sorry again for the controversey.
