i have a std motor std crank low miles block im running ported heads oversized ferrea valves lunati 32508x i believe its a 210/205 , ported intake, bigger plenum/throttlebody spacer, ported header's i want to run e85, and im running built tranny undecided about installing a brake since its 95% street car, will be at track once in a while but not every weekend,,so for converter im running a vigilante 7 disk lock up 32-3500 stall pn#239028-7 im staying with the 3.42's out back, and some DR's 275-60-15's have body bushings and rear arms and atr bar, i'll be running open downpipe, or a 3 inch str8 back open no muffler, im trying to go as fast as possible, im thinking 25+ psi just don't know which turbo? i have a ta49 laying around almost new, but i really wanted a 6262 billet wheel, i think for my combo the 6262 might be a bit laggy for street use.. i need help...im also thinking about running stock cam, rather than the 210/205 any suggestions about turbo/cam pick with my combo? heard of multiple guys running deep in 10's with stock motor's with perfect tune i know the tune is real important...i will be adding a wideband, on the downpipe...and go from there.

TA49 will have less lag, but a 6262 will go further at 25+psi. The converter should work fine. I have run 0 pump Vigilante converters with a Te44, TE60, TE63 p trim, 66GTQ and even a 76GTQ. The 63 and 66 had very livable lag, the 76 was a pig on the street, at the track, you can launch with as much boost as needed to make it 60'. The 44 and 60 are on boost fast.

what do you think about 210/205 cam vs stock cam,? and with my combo what times should you expect from the combo i need a LOW 11 sec or even break a 10;99 setup thats why i know the 49 wont be that great i know bison said a 49 has been in the 10;80's but i think it was at over 30psi...

10.80's with a stock engine takes more psi. With heads and a cam, it should do it with less, but it will still be working it. I would go with a 6262 or an old PT54, which Precision sells for $650. Put a Garrett housing on the 54, and it will spool fast. I would leave the cam if it is in good shape. Low 11's, high 10's will be easy with tuning.

E-85, 3500stall, 6262 @ 26-28#, big injectors, 28" tires, p/p hds, would make the cam show up as the weak link. If it's the same cam I'm thinking of, it falls off the page after 5k. Good for stock motors, but I would think the 212 range would better serve you if you have the funds. Bison can better comment on the lunati cam.

Hydraulic, fair idle. Killer street/strip cam for turbo applications.
  • Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 260/255
  • Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 210/205
  • Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .456/.440
  • LSA/ICL: 108/108
  • Valve Lash (Int/Exh): Hyd/Hyd
  • RPM Range: 2500-5500
i dont think im going to be shifting any later than 5600 seems like cam has a good powerband and these are great for low end torque, im not sure if im going to run the 6262 im 95% street the 6262 might be very lagy on the street without a Transbrake.. i need something to get up and go i want instant spool or full boost by 2500-3000 i dont care after 55 since it would be the end of my pband,

i really wanted the 6262 Bison told me i didnt need it, BUT if i do throw a brake in the trans i will be going with the 6262 billet..and come off the line hard (whenever i do decide go to the track) i just need a proven low 11 sec combo or lower.. for hard STREET pounding..

Bison, Mr Spool, and Oil Man are good with mean stoplight warriors. Not to say that others aren't, but from reading their post I can see their views are comparable. Search some of the posts these guys have made.

what i can afford at this point is a JB6262 billet wheel, unless i sell the 49 and a stocker i have laying around,

the problem is im going going by the "older" gnttype turbo reference guide but with all the new wheels and housing's that are more efficient im lost for which i need, point is i don't want to spend alot of $$$ on a nice big turbo and it's not what i want, i hate lag and everyone has made a mistake in the past with buying a turbo that is just too big, or was that just me? then im stuck with something i dont want or i have to sell it and lose on my investment, i just dont have the funds to be buying 1400 turbo's and then not like the combo... from my research i think im good with a 5857 or 5862 and lastly the 6262 or beat the crap outa my 49 thats almost new and see what she does over 30 psi...

I thought the 6262dbb had almost no lag.
With a converter that stalls at 2800-3000 it would be nice. I have played with a jb6262 on a couple combos and it spool fast enough for me with 2800-3000 at 0-1 psi. Still not as quick as a stocker I have here with a restalled D5 which is at about 2400@0. Its coming off soon for a billet 5858. I just can't justify buying a $700 44 mid 90's model over a $1000 2012. Sell the 49 and. Stock unit and buy a 5858!

That cam will not stop you from your goal. I run a old ruggles grind 210/205 and it will get you there. And more.

if you have the 49 already just use that, get the wideband and get tuning and put the car together.see how you like it,and see how fast you can make the car go.i dont have experience with the 58/58 but a 49 will run mid 11's all day long and low 11's and better if you want to really push it.if spool is a concern cant really go wrong with either.hope you have all the safety equipment to go below 11.50,it gets old being told that was your last pass.the small turbo's are great on the street, the bigger turbo's can be awesome too but you will need alot more supporting mods to really get the car right on the street.

You're not going to have full boost by 3000 with that combo. Peak power will be around 5000 rpm with that cam and decent heads @27-28psi. I'd run a smaller cam if keeping the 49. If you want spoolup by 3000 you need a really small cam with stock turbo and tight converter. The 49 should get you 117-118mph in decent air. If youre not anywhere near there then more turbo is a waste.

ok so should i use the 210/205 cam or ditch the cam and keep the stock cam? small turbo or new precision? i have a lock up vigilante 32-3500, and 3.42's and im running 275/60/15 on e85 80 pounders ethanol...give me something guys...i almost bought a precision locally today until my phone email popped up and started reading the comments, i backed out and told him give me till tomorrow to decide...

what we have is an 1/8th mile over here which i rarely go but if i go i want to run 85-90 or + on the 1/8th 7 something will be fine,. really i just want to wake up and get to work FAST if im running late...:D

my old combo with a 49 and a stock motor with the stock head having a mild port on pump gas/duel nozzle alky,3200 stall 10.5 protorque,4.10 gears, small front mount, would go 7.0/7.20 at 98+mph in the 1/8 around 3800lbs.yes the car had a stock cam and a 28 inch drag radial 1.55 60ft and locked at wot.
