have a question for my friends 82 cross fire vette. Sorry I don't know much about these vettes but maybe someone here knows.

The engine is idleing low to point of stall with AC on & in gear at a STOP.
1) could a high idle circut for AC possibly be not working?

2) Can any idle adjustments be made with this type system at the crossfire?

Try to see if BFH,usually in the hotair forum, can help you out,he posted a while back that he had one too and seemed to have some knowledge about them if I recall.

Ah,the old "cease fire" cross ram Corvette.
I don't know if this will help, but I remember pulling the injector pods off of one to clean the bowls and pintles.
Seemed to help smooth out the idle quite a bit.
Those little "eggs" had a fair bit of junk in them.
Just a thought.

i hear from many a car guy that the best way to fix a problem with a cross fire vette is to sell it ;)

Sounds like whatever mechanism it uses to raise the idle when load is on the motor @ idle has failed. I don't know what they use.. Solenoid?

Ewww...ceasefire. As suggested, the only way to really fix is to get rid of it :)

So now I see why you go through so many cars. ;)

See, at least a FEW of us know what we're talking about!!!

Best answer is rewiring it to use the 1227747 ecm. It is alot of work, but the 747 is kind of a neat ecm.

The original ecm is the first real attempt at EFI for GM, and well, it shows.

Other then that, then it's just EFI, and check the IAC passage ways, and look at the fuel spray with a timing light, and there should be a nice cone shape to it.

While not earth shattering, I ran mid 13s with a Cross fire in an 84 Firebird, back in the mid 90s.

some of you guys give new meaning to the phrase "ignorance is bliss" ;)

How many of you guys putting down the crossfires have ever OWNED one?

Funny, I NEVER hear the standard twin-TB injected motors getting badmouthed. Yet they're basically identical in function to the the crossfires with only ONE exception: the crossfires have 2 throttle linkages that have to be syncronized. Whoopee.

To be honest, I DON'T know much about mine...know why? cuz in 2-1/2 years of daily driving, I've had ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM with it! NONE!!

I CAN offer a link to a bulletin board like this one, The Crossfire Injection Vault, plenty of good info there...

My 84 Vette had crossfire, after some massaging, I got it to run 12.70's at 106, it was by far the worlds quickest crossfire vette in it's time I am sure, no other idiot would have spent the $$$$$$$ on it!!! I read alot of bad stuff about them, I never had any real issues with it. I was kind of disappointed after I bought my 90 Vette, it didnt respond to mods as well as the x-fire, handled much better, alot less electrical quirks but I expected more....

I agree totally with you on this one! Most people that put down the X-fire are the same idiots that have never owned one or even a Corvette for that matter! I am currently building my '84 Corvette to reach the 325 HP mark with the X-fire. I have never seen a car yet produced from any manufacturer that has never needed some kind of work to keep it perfectly "tuned" I have owned my '84 Vette since '97 and I have never had any problems with the X-fire! I have actually had more reliability with the Vette than my GN but I am not complaining! :D

Now the '85 on up tuned port was a better induction set-up on these Vettes no doubt when you compare them to the X-fire but we have a board member running low 11s with his X-fire Vette so don't tell me that they cannot be built to "run" :)

They really are prone to problems and I think thats what all these people are talking about. I really don't think 2 4 cylinder FI setups rigged together is the best route possible, you could pick up a TPI setup and install that. Now its no easy job but sooner or later the Xfire setup will run the same amount of time in repair though.
