Ac delco module?

You might want to first check the connectors in the plug as I have seen them loose tension and not make good contact.

Use some electrical contact cleaner, and then take a sturdy pin to "adjust" the contacts to close and grip the contacts in the module tighter.

Got module from jstahl -good unit

Checked plug cleaned and dialithic grease.didn't see any lose terminals but I could look again-that's y I was looking to replace plugs just in case.:)

Had a car do it with low battery. Car sat a lot. When we put a charge on the battery, went away. Does your car crank over slow?

Thanks but the car turns over great.Seems when it did it a couple of times it was running a bit hot?????

Well yesterday I took the module harness off and double checked it .Looks like maybe one of the terminals might have been a bit loose.sS o went into the plug ends and bent all the female ends so they were tighter:biggrin:any way the code has not returned,Nick maybe right.
Thanks all

Hi,
This is a common issue, and on later model cars the pin design and constituency has been changed radically. The engineers now use gold plating and remarkable new designs in terminal construction that have eliminated a lot of this. I would guess that Nick is right,as he usually is....

Damn thing ran great all week, decided to go to the gas station down the road and bam.Codes back ,this thing is pissen me off.Nexzt im just going to run all new wires from the module to the ecm.It is so intermittent hard to track down.Everything to do with the ecm looks good.:confused:If anyone has any heads up let me know thanks.

You might try tugging on the wires, as close as possible to the crimped on connector, to see if the insulation stretches. Even better if you can take the wire out of the plastic holder to check it (there is a tool you can get to release the packard connector from the plastic holder). It was not uncommon that the wires inside the insulation would break when the connector was crimped on and the insulation would look fine. Caused many intermittent conditions. The module connector would be a simple, easy to get to place to start.

try running an extra ground wire (maybe 10 or 12 gauge) from one of the coil/module mounting studs to the fire wall. This seemed to cure my random code 42 issues. Also, when I did get that code my drivers side header would get cherry red and car just would not run right. I think it has to to with the timing or something. Try adding the extra ground wire as I mentioned, as these cars have crappy grounds as it is. I have not had that code 42 return in a year now. :)

FYI You will have issues running a off brand coil pack and modules. If it's not ac delco then your playing games.

Used coil pack/modules are NEVER good. No one takes them off their car because they are working. ;)

Food for thought.
