they bought up chevelles.com and camaros.net- and all the other forums that were owned by the same guy- a while back. they are mostly unchanged, but you can definitely tell that those boards are now owned by a huge corporation and not a husband and wife in Vancouver...

Yeah, I was pretty perturbed they way the deal with tbs.com went down. I really wish they would have offered it up to the community before selling out the way they did. I haven't logged into tbs.com since then and just hang out at ihadav8.com and here now.

Thanks for not selling us down the river Shane. This site may be a pain some times but I really can't imagine the ghost town it would become if it was sold. It would look like T6P most likely.

TB is worth way more than that for a large company. Id have been shocked if an initial offering of well over 100k wasnt made. Hell, I know what VS paid for TBS and that was about 5x too much but it helps them a lot more with cross linking, etc so in the long run its probably worth it.

The effects of selling this site to a conglomerate like IB or VS would probably be the death toll for the Buick community. Forums are a business to them. They dont care about the users other than to keep you happy enough to click ads and they dont care about vendors any further than cashing that check every month. Cant pay? Too bad, you get cut off. Dont like the way the forum is configured? Too bad.. if its making them money, they arent going to change it.

People here really dont understand how well they have it. Thats why it makes me ****ing insane when people bitch here. Ive been on the other side. Ive been the one that had to play hard ball with the vendors, calling to collect overdue advertising money, telling them tough **** when they cant pay and turning them off. Ive been in on the conference calls where it was decided to ban 30-40 people to try to keep the rest of the userbase in line.. yea, you guys have no idea how good you have it here.

Making money from forums requires a focus on making money, not on keeping advertisers or users happy, just keeping them happy enough to keep them coming back and clicking.

i am proud to be a member here & the newest member at t6p [ty] cant imagine this site under corprate america .. They tend to suck the fun & money out of everything .. So god bless those who run this site . I share so much in common here with other members & admins . Guns, cars ,family , dogs. This place makes me feel among freinds . Even z ..
