As for tuning the VE tables, some of this is built into the included What's Up Display. Makes it easy & quick to get up & running.
Now for the plug (you knew it was coming): for anyone wanting to step up a bit from the stock ECM the EBL SFI-6 system is a good choice.

Curious about this
Thanks Joe

The EBL SFI-6 Flash system is based on a newer Buick/Olds ECM. It has more inputs & outputs which makes it more flexible in terms of functionality. It is nearly the same form factor as the stock 86/87 turbo ECM, and fits in the same location (some minor mods to the kick panel plastic is required, but not able to be seen once installed).
No chip swapping, there is Flash memory on board to hold the calibration (BIN). Takes but a few seconds to update the calibration from your laptop via the same USB cable as is used for data logging and observing the data.
Basically, this ECM system uses a stock GM ECM ('8253), with a board that is plugged into the MEMCAL socket. This board has the Flash memory, along with eight ADC channels for data logging analog devices such as WB set ups, fuel pressure sensors, EGT sensors and so on.
And, provides for high speed data logging of the ECM variables, such as RPM, MPH, injector PW, malfunction codes, spark advance, knock retard and on & on.
The ECM firmware that runs the engine was specifically set up for boosted engines. And, is integrated into the What's Up Display (WUD). Check out the WUD screen shots here:

The other screen shots are shown in the second link, but still use the SFI-6 color scheme.
The product page for the EBL SFI-6 is here:

That shows the board that gets installed into the ECM. Note that you can purchase a complete unit with it already installed. Our home page shows the complete EBL SFI-6 ECM:

If the weather is good I'll be bringing the Black Car to Kirban's open house this SaturdayOtherwise I'll be driving something else there

The scan master is supported and can be retained. But it isn't a necessity.
