I have a stock 87 GN with add ons and alky, It has run a best of 11.18 at 120 on M/T drag radials, A friend I race with has a ls1 Camaro and he run 11.01 at 128 on street tires, No drag radials no spray, With drag radials and spray he runs low 10's,

Damn if these Turbo Buicks weren't so cool I'd have to go back to Chevy via the LSx.. However the looks I get in the Turbo regal are priceless

Get the looks w/ the LS1 go!!! DO the swap! I went the other way, Firebird w/ a Buick 3.8L engine, "Firebuick"

I'd have gone the way of the LSx long ago if my dad and brother didn't own them. I can live vicariously through them. However, I did sell my brother on the Darkside so he replaced his '02 WS6 T/A with an '87 Turbo T. My dad still has his '99 SS Camaro though.

Dad is picking up an LS3 Corvette soon so the siren song of the LSx may be calling again......must.....resist.....

If the 150 shot is legit, I think the OP is going to get beat. Sorry.

Jim

Street race or track??? If its on the street you'll hook and leave em and he'd have to run you down. You can also let off early saying you had em by a few lengths, but at the track you'll have to run the full 1/4. You get the alky straight I think it will be very tight and he won't be talking chit afterwards. Let us know the results.

Dont bring a knife to a gunfight...Slap on a better turbo, bigger injectors, and at least get a dutt necked stock intercooler, tune your alchy for it and your set.

Oh, and lets not forget to make sure you got a good fuel pump..

That's the beauty of the GN's they all look alike.

Aren't there and charcoal T's down there that can fill in for you... if you can't beat'em Cheat 'em:biggrin: You need more HP. Don't lose you mod money.

He's only 7hrs away from me! If I had a T like his I would be swapping wheels and tires with him and betting on this race for $1000 ;) LOL Wouldn't it be cool if we could all bet on this if that were the case.

I just got word. Its a 100 shot on street tires and it will be a street race sunday.

Id get some VHT and start practicing.

Bison, I was thinking of a Sneaky Pete like setup for the VHT. A remotely activated setup that releases it upon activation by driver at select 'race' tracks every where.

Use a windshield washer pump and use an on off switch that requires the engine to be off while spraying the VHT. Use nylon hose to the rear tires. Make sure you wire it so it cant be turned on with the engine running or it could accidentally be turned on going 100+mph at WOT:eek: .

Wow! Bison, Smart!!!!!! :D

I knew someone that ran methanol that way -via the windshield washer fluid to the intake of his old 70's big block. He's get an extra kick by turning on his washers.
BTW, educate me, wouldn't the vht help on the highway, providing extra traction, with street tires, or would it provide too much of a slick surface between the rubber and the road?
Thanks. But I think that's not a bad idea....hook it up so that it pumps through the tubing, down the sides of the gas tank, and spraying towards the rear tires via the lower control arms so that it's not visible.

I think we're getting carried away here. LOL

Good luck to ya with your race those LS1 cars are fast with just a couple of mods .but i am hopeing the turbo buick guy can pull it off good luck
