I tell them it's the same thing as a Grand National expect a GN is painted all black with black/grey interior and a spoiler. Otherwise it's the same engine, same trans, same rear, same suspension.

People are generally stupid, so it doesn't really matter what you tell them.

My neighbor in SC thought his stock 1984 Z-28 was faster than my stock motored T-type because it had a V-8.

This is while he watched me half fill a 5 gallon bucket with the rubber balls I scraped out of my wheel wells and right after I showed him my 7.7@89 mph time slip from Greer dragway from days before. Somethings just don't compute with some people.

It depends on my mood but I ususally go with the Mustang GT/LX5.0 analogy too. Sometimes I tell people that GN's are the base model and my WE4 had to be special ordered with the grey interior and with out the emblems and spoiler.

it's not that they are stupid- it's just that they don't know any better.

is that a gn? yes it is,its a former fbi car.has a turbo per cylinder. its also a extra from the fast and the furious lol:tongue:

A whaaa???? I dunno.. it's my mother's car. Wanna race?

lol. Thats my response too. Although I tell em it was my grandfathers car (especially since it still has the POW and 392nd stickers on the bumper).

Of course, I hardly get any questions. Going badgeless and buldgeless with a half vinyl roof, chrome trimmed, silver T kinda flies under the radar.

I just tell them it's the same exact car and that the Grand National is a paint and trim option.

Thankfully I haven't had many people ask about my car. Once, at a gas pump, an elderly guy said it was nice and asked "Is that an Oldsmobubble"? As I'm snickering his likewise elderly wife leaned out the passenger window and snips "That's a Buick, how dare you?!! I started cracking up at that point. Priceless.

gn

some of the older guy's around ask me if they can see my grand sport. So and so had one years ago but I didn't know they still sold them. It does get old, doesn't it?

bob

I just move on. :p

Had a guy at the gas station the other day ask me if the turbo still worked okay, I felt like saying I wouldn't be driving it if it didn't idiot.

How many people actually drive a turbo car with a dead turbo.

I know I wouldn't be filling up the tank on one, that's for sure. ;)

Maybe they think you can just "switch on the turbo" like the blower on the Interceptor in Mad Max. Or like KITT in Knight Rider, turn it on with a button or something...lol.

Maybe they're used to those "turbo kits" that are electrically powered...

Oh but the really big annoying comment from dumbazz people has to be.........

When are you going to hang 24's on it so that it looks really good?

I have a GN so I really can't relate to this whole second class citizen stigmatism that you non-GN owners deal with.

Oh and I drove a few NA Regals for DD's for many of years. I tell you if it ain't flashy looking than nobody gives a second look. Put a flat hood on it and your troubles are over.:D
