We got into a discussion about this over at our Turbobuick beer bash a few weeks ago. Ever notice some of the phrases people say while selling parts, selling cars, wanting parts, or even describing their cars?

The conversation started out with someone saying they had FULL this and that on their car.
I say that drives me nuts when people use the word FULL to describe their cars.

"yeah I got full 16in tires man" oh yeah? Thats so cool man!

"it's got full disc brakes up front" like it's only going to have half of a disc brake?

"Yo dog, my box has a full 15in woofer in the back" no comment!

Or how about when people make a post in the Parts Wanted section like:
GNX TURBO WANTED Loking for an original GNX turbo in excellent condition. I just lost my job so I dont have a ton of oney to spend, anybody got one laying around??

------Yeah dude, you just lost your job but you need to have a GNX turbo so your car runs so you can take your butt down to the Unemployment Office?
-------Lets say "Laying around" to make it seem like you are looking for some useless part that someone just happen to have sitting in a pile of weeds and might just give you! Ah hu, right!

Just some observations of how people word things to try to manipulate people! Lets hear yours!

Or how about a guy selling his car. In a reply to his original for sale post he says "I've got a ton of emails and phone calls"

But yet the car is still for sale? So because you say you have a ton of emails and phone calls, thats' going to make me feel like I'm going to miss out right? --------Probably not!!!!!

Ever notice every used part in the For Sale section only has 30,000 miles on it. ;)

Like this?

1987 GN

I'm not posting pics because everyone knows what they look like.

I'm not posting a price because if you have to ask then you probably can't afford it.

Don't have to sell but if doesn't sell in one week then I'm putting it back in storage.

I'm never on this site so don't PM me. Um, don't call or email either.

Will do an *even* trade for a 2010 Z07 with low miles. Don't waste my time with junk!

stage II engine F/S

Best of everything, all parts brand new! Only 1 sleeve in the #3 cylinder. No tire kickers. No low ball offers.

$17,000

i say their full of something alright

can we say that word without offending the moderators. the people you guys are mentioning must be used car salesmen. i've been a salesmen most of my life and one thing i always did was be honest with my potential buyer. sure i may have lost some sales but some sales people have no remorse or think of future sales. i got alot of referance type sales because people liked the way i was upfront. it's rare you find that in sales but some of these guys and girls have no morals what so ever.

I think you've all missed the biggest ones....

"MINT CONDITION"

I'm not sure about you guys but in the world of collectable items (ie: cars, books, stamps, comic books, coins, etc...) The term mint actaully means mint as in brand new, not used, not worn. As if freshly "minted". I see lots of parts and cars sold as mint or near mint. None of them are. There are always issues.

Another pet peeve is when people use the words "all original- 100% stock", yet in their pictures anyone can play "where's Waldo" and see numerous mods that are NOT 100% stock.

There's also "unmolested" - except for the chip, injectors, the CAI, the roll cage...etc...

Maybe the post areas should require a more stringent process for listing items... Just my .02.

One thing I’ve noticed is when someone is talking about their track times is they “left a lot on the table” or “it was a very conservative tune”.

My favorite is "with slipping tranny"...
Then from the coulda, shouda, woulda dreamers "10 second potiential"
"Mint" is so overused it doesn't mean anything anymore.

lol.... I guess some just don't realize that most of us have been there, done that. Here is one from a guy selling a car I was contemplating buying recently...... "I have a buyer for the car...if ur serious u will need to act quickly...not trying to be pushy...just honest."

lol.... Needless to say if anything it made me NOT want to buy the car vs. buy it. Kinda like "Hurry up and buy my headache please so I can stop wasting so much money on Advil.".....

Or "It went low 9's on low boost." Meaning, I have turned it down from 35 PSI to 29 PSI. Yea, ok.

Or "It went 135 MPH so it's a 9 second car." Well, actually it's a 9 second car when it makes a 9 second pass with a time slip. G-Techs don't count either.....

Has anyone ever seen a turbo for sale on here that has over 1k miles or more than 10 track passes?

Yeah thats a good one!!!!!!!!!!! I dont think honeslty have ever seen a turbo listed as 5K miles on it.

Although, some of us do change turbos as much as we change our oil!

How about "RARE"..........dont even get me started on this one.

Like we really need to know how rare your damn NOS EGR valve is!!!!!

"RARE" shouldnt be used on thissite at all. I think we know what is rare and what isnt! Where's SLOWCAR??????????

"Easy fix"

LMAO
If it was an easy fix you would have fixed it to charge more!!

I have put less than 500 miles on my car since Sept 2007 and it has had 3 turbos on it and only one pass(well a half of a pass).

Used to hear stuff like "I am building a fully-blown small/big block for my____". As apposed to partially blown??? Never understood where this crap came from. I used to hear it a lot when I had my tunnel ram on my 327 in a Monza. Like I was supposed to be afraid.
