No problem Grumpy we will give you credit on whatever they decide on. :)
67 was my first choice as well but I can live with a 76 too
Mike

Mike just wait and see what the "masses" want  I am still doin house junk for a while here so I can wait and then thrash like crazy to get it done :p

subscribed (little late but very interested in this class ,or classes i think would workout better)

:D
ya no problem... rules should be out soon ... I guess they are leaning to any 3 bolt turbo... I really don't see how guys are goin to get all the 88s.. hope they don't have a backlog on them :p

PTE has a ton of the 3 bolt 88s,He will give a hell of a deal on them im told:D

A 76 limit though? Forget it,Im out.
Im not running against 76mm turbos,This class could be faster than TSM.
IM out wither way if its above 67.

Hey remember we're talking 93 octane here.. not VP 121.. so keep that in mind... as tuning a car on a big turbo/big boost and limited octane takes skillz. And you have to spool it on a protree for a quick8.. so the difficulty with a larger turbo.. is that. Not always bigger is better.. anyone who owns one of these cars knows this. I would rather not even have a turbo limit as this single subject gets more "HEAT" than any other subject. I would love to see a car count that has 20+ cars.. the more rules.. the more "I'm out.. "

I have yet to see anyone with a 76 and a 109 that really makes any decent ET. Or even an 88.. Please correct me if i'm wrong

So.. back to those that will absolutely without a doubt "SHOW UP WITH A CAR".. what turbo size are you bringing? If your not going to bring a car, or will contribute financially to the class.. please stay out of this thread :) :) said nicely ;)

Rules to me should be made by racers and those willing to participate. If nobody with a 70/71/76 is going to be in the class.. then lets cap it to a 67. See its an easy fix no? But PLEASE if you have no intention of driving to race at BG.. we dont need the input.

Now.. those that dont qualify in the Quick8..
Mike, the consistancy deal is easy. Meaning you run the car three times. Slowest and fastest are the means. Example 11.20, 11.30, 11.40. Your score is .20. You run a car 11.21, 11.24, 11.22.. your score is .03. Lowest score wins :) Nobody hits the brakes, everyone leaves on green at the same time. And run their cars consistantly. hows that? We can use reaction time averaging in case of a tie. That way we dont have to go round after round after round at the nats. Or just run brackets and everyone in the brackets dials a number on their car.

No rules have been made for this class. If we all cant get along on a set of simple and straight forward rules.. its simple.. no class will be made.

Let the racers speak :) After all.. the time and money to put a car together to compete.. then trailer it/drive it.. is a lot of work.

I remember 20+ years ago street racing.. someone comes up with a flashlight.."He's got slicks and traction bars..".. booo hoooo... its not fair.. Let the cars run their numbers.. "keep it simple stupid" :D Soon they wont allow alcohol in the alcohol class

I can go either way with the turbo sizing. I currently have a 66 but am looking at a 72 and a 76. I do plan on racing the class but need to know what the rules will be before I order as I am ready to pull the trigger now on the new turbo.
Thanks for taking the time to do this Julio.

I'm with Otto, 67mm then I'm in, if not looks like I'll drive the car to BG to hang out. Let's also go with the TSM max boost of 24psi. Uh oh, nevermind, the poster child couldn't race then.

I say no lines goin to the wastegate ..then see whos left  :p ohhh... you go first  ok have to go eat .. workin sucks

How about we split the class into 2. Small shaft turbo's and large shaft turbo's.

Small shaft turbo cars run against other small shaft turbo cars. And do it a heads up class with a small shaft turbo.

Same with the large shaft turbo...

Still have the Quick8... small shaft turbo's are welcome in the Quick8.. as long as they make the ET. I ran 10.5 on a small shaft.. so it can be competitive.

Some would argue a 67 is not a street turbo..

I want to see fast cars on pump gas. I want to help sponsor and pay to see this happen.. I want there to be compensation to the racer for squeezing the motor.. how much $$$$ will it take to have this happen. :D $1000, 2000, 3000... Lets make it competitive..

At the going rate.. doesnt look good.

Or we make a stock turbo class and the payout is a plaque. 3 cars show up.. and we quibble over the one guy ported his inlet bell.

back to those that will absolutely without a doubt "SHOW UP WITH A CAR"..
what turbo size are you bringing?
I'll be there with a 70mm! ;)

I already made a commitment to sponsor, I plan to be ther with a car. My gut tells me that 67 is the correct limit. 70 is fine as well since many were sold recently. 76 is as big as I would really want to see. I will get whatever I need to run so let the others decide. Small shaft / big shaft split up, waste of time IMO. Quick 8 heads up, rest of class consistant field sounds great to me. We need less rules, that way lets get some of the really fast guys that don't run class cars involved and we may see some very cool racing. As far as I am concerned get the guy with the GS that has the big block and a Procharger to put a meth kit on and lets race.
Mike

It would have to be a Buick Powered, Buick to race at the nats. It would need pump gas and alky to be in the class. The invitation is up to the racers/Julio. Do you fit?
Mike

less rules = more cars.
To me, this is a very exciting class, however, in reality the class has shown a very low car count in years past but lots of promised participation. I'm sure everyones intentions are good but in reality not many cars have shown up to race. So, why not let EVERYONE give it a try? Set it up with a minimum weight, maybe a turbo limit, the fewer rules the better. Personally I'm not opposed to hybrids or Buick v-8 combo's, as long as it's Buick powered.
The beauty of alky injection's roots, was the ability to keep an aggressive tune in the car while driving around on the street with out the hassle of replacing o2 sensors and the expense of racing fuel. There are many detailed ruled, race gas classes for our cars already, we don't need it here. Run the quick 8 class with minimal rules, " just like you were at the stoplight". Everyone else in the bracket class has an equal chance at winning. I think this is the best of both worlds for as many cars to compete as possible. I too would like to see just how fast the cars could go on pump gas.

K.I.S.S

DEFINETLY BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

70's sounds ok to me, run what you brung!!!!!!!!! IF it's ok for TSM it should be OK for US!!!!!!!

fastest 8 run heads up(after 2 rounds of qualifying) would like to see a reg. tree instead of a pro tree :p

min. weigh 3400 with iron heads 3550 with aluninum heads

Im a new member who is very interested in running in this class next year. What if the tire size were kept to a minimum such as a 275 drag radial. I think this would equalize the playing field more than anything. I would like to see a big turnout and even if some are running the 70mm and 76mm turbo they will have to put it down on a small tire. Keep the rules to a minimum this time and maybe some changes can be made to make it an even better race in 2009. Just my 2 cents.

hey grumpy...thanks for letting me know the real thread was over here. ...Is this a street car class or a race car class....I am not going to BG but am interested in running at other events and would like a set of rules uniform from event to event...that includes Vehicle saftey...11.4999..gotta have a bar....9.99 a cage...anything over 135 a cage....I am very interested in a "street" alky injected class...agree it should be a dot tire after all who runs slicks on the street...turbo size who cares......this should be a class to show what alky can do to a basic 109 on pump gas...I like the idea of 2 classes....those that want to go really quick and fast are in the heads up...those that want to go slower...bracket....also like the idea of a cruise...between rounds...to prove it is a street car...and can go from the street to the track and back....to prove too that alky cars can do both....just my 2 cents...and I am subscribed now
