Tommrow I am putting a new PCV valve in my car, and I am almost 100% sure that the WG solinoid Vents into the large PCV Vac line.

Do you think it would be wise to disconnect the WG sol. Vac line, and make it vent to the air just like the 86-87's do? Of coarse I would leave one Line on...but instead of it venting into the PCV line it would just be an open port!

Anyone done it?

Sound Like a good idea?

Any tips on putting in a new PCV valve?

I don't see a problem with it although the 87s did have a foam filter on them. So far I've only seen one that still had the filter. I did away with the WG solenoid a long time ago. My boost is a lot more consistant without it.

For the PCV, a little oil on the grommet or valve will really make your day a lot easier. And don't push the grommet into the valley like I did the first time.

Umm, who "hosed" your car? MY wastegate solenoid only has one vac line, and my foam filter on the other side is still there, venting to the atmosphere!

(or am I missing somthing?)

Nice manual pics! What would be REALLY nice, is if the hose routing was color-coded! Personally, I really can't tell WHERE that second hose goes, but you're probably right, it may be teed into the PCV... I need to take another good look at mine and see what's up! (monday!)

Stock, the WG sol had 2 hoses. I got rid of of the one that just vented it back in to where the PCV was.

With my new setup all the vac/boost lines go like this. From the intake to the boost gauge to the FP regulator. I have the brakes and char cansiter on a seperate circut with a check valve (TM kit comes with it)

Found a pic, I blew it up a bit so it's over-'pixelated'

My car isn't here for verification, but the hose I've pointed to in the pic, I believe is a stub, that ends UNDER the other hose, and it has a plug in the end, which is the filter... BUT I'LL NEED TO CHECK IT OUT TO BE CERTAIN!

i canned mine on my hotair along with the pcv valve too.

you can toss the other hose and vent it to anywhere you want

well.....I made a direct path for the PCV valve....from the Vac Block to the top of the PCV valve.

I also just left the WG sol port open..I put my finger over it at idle and felt a little bit of vac., but under WOT the car held a pretty steady 11psi of boost.

Thanks for all your help guys!

kevin and his weird ass car.. mine had.. has.. 2 hoses.. they are oily like hell though.. just .... incase you wondered.

I have a ? when you are under the hood can you see the waste gate move when you give the motor gas mine just seems to just sit there .

tnt----You shouldn't see the Waste Gate move at all when you rev the engine...the only time that you should see it move is when you reach the full boost, and it opens to control it.....this would be when you are creating boost....as you know the car dosent build boost while in park or Nutral no there is no need for the WG to open.

herb, had my turbo off and was wandering about the same thing, but it looks like to me that if u was to unhook that vacuum line it would take away vacuum to the wastegate, inturn would not hold the wastegate closed as long- correct? let me know what u think

That hose that goes to the PCV valve is basicly a vent...so it dosent really matter...I just disconnected the vac line, and made a solid live from the vac block to the PCV valve...worked ok for me...I am getting pretty steady boost!

Also For the WG Actuator....I took the one vac line off (the one closer to the pass side) and put a cap on it...I dont really see a reason to have 2 vac lines going to it!

I might be wrong, but that line looks like it should have vacuum so inturn it would just apply vacuum to the other port on the WG actuator but going throught the wastegate solienoid, maybe holding vacuum longer @ the WG witch would build up more boost.
P.S. how did u run ur vacuum from turbo?

Its all stock....I have the one little small vac line that goes from the nipple on the comp side of the turbo, and that goes into the Y...the Y splits off and one section goes to the WG actuator, and the other section goes to the WG solinoid.....Just like the 86/87 cars!

Have you guys noticed performance or driveability gains from the vac line changes youve made?

The boost is a bit more steady, and I got about 1HG more in vacume (could be because of a leak)...but other then that....not really..

Then again I am only running 11psi...I need new injecters before I turn up the wick!
