Has anybody ever run a 12 with a regular radial? I tried today and could only get a 13.3@114mph. I was hoping for a 12 in street trim (91 octane, capped exhaust, alky, BFG KDWS tires 245/50/16) Just couldn't do it................ Of course this was with the exhaust uncapped, because halfway down the track on the first run, the test pipe got "blown out" of the down pipe:eek: (Just a little bit of backpressure?? boost pegged the gauge at 30 before I could let off)

You have to peddle the car out of the hole till it hooks. And get your 60 foot down. It takes practice in doing so. So the mash the pedal and pray like is done on slicks, cannot be done on regular radials. Unless you have an AEM for traction control.

Another trick is shoot a bunch of alcohol into the motor making it lazy, this will limit spoolup, and make the car launch way softer. So it doesnt blow the tires..

takes a driver that knows his car to do some quick et's with limited traction.

Chuck Leeper ran 11.9 at 133 :D

As described in my signature, 12s on street tires are a pretty common occurance. You should have with that MPH. ;)

Those are some impressive times with regular radials! The track today was HORRIBLE, I didn't even see anybody with less than a 1.7 60ft with huge slicks. Oh well, guess I'll just see how close to an 11 I'll get since the MPH is there. Not too bad for 149k miles and pump gas:D

Last time I was on real street radials was with all the stock stuff. I ran 12.6@110 on a 1.9x. This was on 245/50/16 Firestone Firehawks.

It takes practice. I was out with my car today and I couldn't find the sweet spot between not giving it enough gas (slow spool) up and too much gas (blowing the street tires away).

I have BFG KWDs 16x8 wheels w/ 245/60-16 tires.

I want to get some a little bigger in the back, any sugestions, 275 maybe?

Biggest you can go is 255 50 16s. Mine are Sumitomo 26.2" tall. I had BFGs. Like drivin' in the snow. :o

Not to highjack the thread but Red how do the Sumimotos compare to Drag Radials? I have heard guys (but in lower HP cars) not gaining anything when they switched from the Sumimoto to the drag radial.

I ran a 12.0 @116mph on 295-50-15 Dunlops & pump gas with 18psi.

Johnny

very impressive

12.7's at 110 on 235-15 bf goodrich/ta that are old as dirt and have almost no tread. No boost at line and 2.2 60ft times.

I know, it is barely a 12 but I did run it twice that night. It definately takes a perfect balance on the launch, managed to spin at least 2 times and still ran 13.0x at 110.

The very first time I went to the track I did so on Goodyear GT+4 215/65's. Went best of 12.866 @ 107 with a best 60' of 1.927, a 1.950, and several 2.0x's.

12's here first time out. I am running really rich though. I launched w/ 2psi and spin the tires maybe one whole revolution and a small churp ..... Netted me a 1.99 60ft 12.91 1/4 and 108 mph. Like I said first time out;)

I'm targeting 12's on radials this season as well. My Firestone Firehawk SZ 245x50x16's have been consistent inconsistent around 2.0-2.1 with a few 1.95's. Can only launch with less than 1 lb of boost. At end of last season I was hitting 13.2 at 106mph. With a higher timing chip and tuning I'm hoping to get as close to 110 as possible and break into the 12's running alky and stock turbo/intercooler.

12.7 at 110 on BFG radials
12.7 at 111 on same tires 2 different cars, 2 different tracks, both stock cars, stock turbo injectors diff chip-

best 60' was 1.90 stock suspension too

loved to beat lots of cars on the street too
