I just want to let paypal know of the situation and have them mark the payment as a partial return instead of a new transaction. Surely a few hours will not kill this guy, I hope!

the pics certainly dont represent its condition but things do get fuked up in transit often. minumum wage employess throwing chit around could care less so it happens often.

That is why it was fully insured ie. I wasted more money.

as far as the plates go if he had nothing to compare them to I too might think they are there for support but he should have sent pics from all angles.

I ASSuMEd that the visible areas are what would be important on a used part such as this, where it is mounted on the bottom of the front bumper of a car that will be street driven and most likely not be on display at the Buick museum.

You live, you learn. From now on, I will avoid paypal like the plague (it seems someone can file a claim for anything these days) and if I do sell something that is not in person, there will be pictures of every square inch to avoid any kind of confusion.

10+ years of being on here and multiple other forums, ebay, paypal, etc. this is the one and only claim against me... thank you 87-TURBO-T take a deep breath, you will have your money tomorrow morning.

I hear ya on paypal. gaint PITA. I learned the hard way a couple years after getten beat that u need to file within 30 days otherwise pounding sand is ur only option. pp is owned by ebay so things are a little better these days tho and they are insured.

if the claim was retracted ur record of 10+ yrs is still in tack

Yes... it was an honest mistake on my part regarding the plates on the back, but the damage to the front (ie. chipping paint) was definitely done in transit. As long as this is resolved and over with, I am happy. Moderators, feel free to ban me if I don't give this guy his $100 tomorrow

If it was packaged properly it never would of gotten damaged!!!!! I agree it is a real pita to package but if you couldnt package it right you should of said local sale only or tell the seller that they have to pay ups store to package it and take the responsibilty off of you !!!! I have shipped 4 or 5 70-81 trans am dash pads all over the country i was paid $600-800 each and the buyer paid another$160-180 shipping/packaging to ups store and i never had a issue and those were more fragile than this part!!!

I disagree there... things get damaged in transit all the time regardless of packaging.

A) It was packaged well.

B) It was insured... and even if I paid the premium to have the shipping company package it for me, I probably still would have gotten hit with the paypal claim from this guy if it were to have gotten damaged. It was covered for the full selling price; why couldn't he have filed a claim with them?

I know that, but he did not want to go that route. I would have filed the claim, and then FedEx would pick up the parts from him along with the packaging to assess the damages.

Like I said... he will have his money in the morning, so the whole shipping/packaging topic is moot.

i just shipped one of these last week , mine was brand new,never installed. There were no rein plates on it.. I double-boxed it and it went across the country(shipping was approx $130.00) it got there in good shape without any issues,although i was not wanting to ship it as i thought it would get damaged..

this was exactly my point before if something is properly packaged it will not get damaged unless it falls out of the airplane or they run it over with the truck
