What is the maximum boost you are running on the STREET with 93 octane pump gas only? I seem to be getting 15-16 lbs and then it starts to knock. I just installed my new 50 lb injectors a few days ago and car pulls like a mother...but it will start to knock right at 15-16 lbs...fuel pressure is 50 psi with line off and I am running a 20 degree timing street chip...

I think that most people here on the board will agree that 50lbs fuel pressure is too high.
Start at 42-43psi vac off and watch your O2's/knock.
16psi boost may be as high as you can go on that chip.
You may be getting rich knock with fuel pressure that high.
Any scantool info?

I have TE-44's on the GN and yellow T. I can run around 16-18 psi. of boost on 93 octane with a 20* chip. I would turn the fuel pres. down as mentioned. Start around 42 psi., line off. You may not be able to run much more that 15 psi. on pump gas.

I have the PTE44, and also am now able to run 93 octane fuel (here in WI). Wonder if our fuels are the same. Your fuel out there in IN oxygenated?

I have my timing set to run 19º in 1st and 2nd gears, and pulls back to 17º in 3rd and 4th gears.

This allows me to easilly run 20# of boost in 1st and 2nd gears, and 18# in 3rd and 4th.

I've tried it the other way, higher timing lower boost. Trust me, there's more power in boost than there is in timing!

BUT, one point, you can run MORE boost in 1st and 2nd gears than you can in 3rd, but to do that, you've got to have the boost pulled back in 3rd.

I'm frankly AMAZED at how much boost I can run on 93 octane fuel here! Certainly different that what I was able to run on the 91 octane water they serve up in CA!!!

I have a TE44 with 40# injectors and can run 16-17#s on a JC street chip. I also found that adding the Powerplate let me eliminate the knock I saw and actually run another pound of boost. The PP really worked for me. I'll alternate between Sunoco 93 and 94 octane.

It depends upon a number of factors, but...16# in third and fourth with a 20 deg does not sound too bad to me. Put an alky kit and a power plate on it....:)

i have the power plate already...also i will be running either 104 or 110 leaded ALL the time on the street soon...haven't decided if 110 will kill my engine over time because of the lead...but i will keep the boost down to 15 lbs on 93 octane for now...it still pulls harder than 20 lbs on my stock turbo IMO

so many factors ...I was running 22 lbs no knock but i had huge frontmount , 19* chip 868's good pump hotwired 3' exh clean eng.. I went from running 20-22 with just the GM top eng cleaner maybe yours is just carbon city in there

Put the alky. on it and you want have a carbon problem.:D Not to mention the extra boost. Boost is HP!

Before I have the V4 in I ran 12-15lbs of boost with a 20 degree timming street chip with min. knock. After the V4 around 18psi with no knock with same chip. Fuel pressure is around 44-45lbs. 50lbs of fuel pressure sounds a little too high.

Pump gas sucks. Anybody who runs over 15 PSI with it is a witch, and should be burned.

Sunoco 94 is pure crap. They dose their 93 with ethanol to get the octane rating up to 94 - it's cheaper than making a true 94 like they did a few years ago. My car knocks like hell on it.

My car has an 18* ME and all the goodies (FM, 52, you name it) and it's low miles and well tuned and it hates pump gas. I use 100 @ $3.499 all the time now. One of these days I'll get up off my azz and put my SMC kit on...

:D

Why bother injecting ethanol (SMC) when you can get it already in the Sunoco 94. :D

Works for me. :)

18 psi. in 1st and 2nd scaled to 15 in 3rd with Sunoco 94 and 18 degree timing chip.

With the SMC alky. I'm at 20 degree timing and 24 psi. boost all gears. :)

bp 93, te44 ,blue tops ,thrasher by scott ,20 psi every day on the street. well i dont drive it every day!

100 octane rules, my car loves it 22-23psi all day long.

Well maybe the gas up north and out east is different, because I am running 22 lbs of boost on Sunoco 94. (no alchy) Granted my car is a hybrid and is a lot lighter, and am running a 44, a PP, big neck Dutt. IC, T+ and E chip. I guess it all ads up ;) Talking to Jay Carter, he even burns his chips a little more timing if he knows that they are going north of the border.

Paul :)
