Hey guys,
I currently have an Accufab regulator. I read a thread the other night about the erratic logging that usually accompanies using it. When I had my Powerlogger, I saw this happening, but did not know it was the regulator.
Now I'm running a FAST XFI and don't care to deal with it.
Who makes the best regulator on the market for our cars?

Thanks

If your ok with a non-buick fuel rail specific unit get a Weldon. Look at all the fastest cars at the track, they run a weldon. The standard 2040 is good for everything up to 2000hp worth of fuel. It is truly 1:1 on boost rise and consistent.

Kirban is the easy fix. Solid 1:1 at my power level which is way lower than you are running. I think it's a great choice for a stock rail. If you're duel feeding, than might as well run a great one; like the rest of your build.

I am going with the fast regulator and gauge

Thanks. I wanna stay with the factory fuel rail mounting. I'll look up the Kirban unit.

Stock fuel rail regulators will give varying results. Some better than others and some of the same brand will even vary

Don't be so ready to blame the regulator. I have yet to see a log with smooth wot fuel pressure trace. So many variables when logging fuel pressure.
From the fuel line to the fuel pump to the regulator to the power supply to the vibration transferred to the sender.

Testing is required to determine the source of the erratic reading IMO. One way is to run the fuel system with engine off. Run the pressure up with compressed air to the regulator. Use a 10 amp (at the least) battery charger to keep volts up.

I think this is much like splitting hairs, there is a lot of variables. IMHO it depends on your setup, tune etc. I personally run an accufab and although I'm probably running way less of a combo then most who responded to this post I have no problems with mine and it has more then sufficient pressure rise with boost. Just saying.

Your correct...it is a nice piece. My new combo will be in the 800-850hp range, so im moving on from it. I don't like the erratic logging I've seen out of my Accufab.

In your case I would probably go with the Kirban unit if your running a stock type rail. Just my opinion though, and yes your way above my combo :o
Cut your output in half and I'm somewhere around there, ;)

Coach, I don't have a chitload of first hand experiance.... but EVERY Accufab unit I've seen tested is flaky and EVERY Kirbins unit I've seen is stable.

now, I haven't seen a large enough sample to fully quantify the zen that is FPRs... but you can use that first line for what is worth.

I ordered a Kirban's regulator on Wed.

And the messiah has spoken, lol :D
Just kidding, I value what Earl has to say, anytime he has given me advice I listened and he always ends up correct in the end.
