which Cosworth? I know of the DB16 project Super Duty DOHC head and of the Vega engine, as well as the Ford Escort MKsomething engines used in the UK rally races; and then theres the v6s.....? hey DR; I hve a friend whos got a contact with a Brodix SD head for a pontiac Iron Duke/SD4; want me to PM you the contact info? I'll PM him on the A-car forum and see what he says.....and how does one know if the Edelbrock 4bbl intake on Ebay right now for a SD head is for the older head or newer head?

I`m finally back:biggrin: Verizon fked me over this week buy turning my phone on and not making sure the internet was connected:mad:

Well the beast made it down here fine, but about 30 mile from my destination, it started to get really loud and the oil pressure was going nuts... so I let off the gas and then got back on the gas and it was making to typical sounds and actions of a blow head gasket. so I pulled the engine apart and the heads where fine... it was just out of oil!

I over filled the oil before I left, so I never thought to check it... that explained the oil pressure bouncing around and the lifters knocking(more than it usually does). So I thought, since I did all this BS for no damn reason, I would put the turbo on... but money is too tight right now. I still need a BTM, new exhaust, longer kick down cable and I would like a better cam... I think that is causing the lifter knock... along with the crappy oil pump, but that`s how it is from the factory:rolleyes:

So now I have to buy new head and oil pump gaskets, oil, oil filter, coolant, trans fluid(now that`s leaking). AZ here gave the wrong head gaskets:rolleyes: so now I have to drive to the other one 30 miles away and I have no gas in the other car to get there:mad: What a fkin mess... FML!

welcome back Jase; and lol' at AZ...yeah your life sucks :( the snow here is melting and i'm trying to find my USGI acrylic glove liners (used inside leather gloves, but i bought without the leather) so that my hands won't freeze when i take off the starter assembly to get it tested at one of the parts stores here. nice thing about winter, most people don't want to deal with taking parts off cars in the cold; so might mean better chance of finding something to swap into the car eventually...or for the next car; as I'm trying to save up for a 2nd car with a buick v6; year/engine model doesn't really matter, but preferably 3.8 liters and/or carbed....

i left you a message on another post. glad to hear you got there. how is the turbo setup working for you?

Thanks. lol good luck with the snow... I`m sweating, its humid today:rolleyes: Get a later SC 3800 Regal:biggrin: That`s what I want... along with a 86/87 GN/Tt/TR... but for now, this is what I have to look forward too:rolleyes:

The setup is good Matt, but the 84/85 turbo elbow is hitting the valve cover, so it will need to be grinned on a little or I can use one of the original ones, but I will have to have a down pipe made:rolleyes:

lol; everyone wants $2500+ for a 150K-250K mile GS SC Regal here. been finding good deals for older 3.8 equipped cars that may need some minor body work; and am planning to keep my DD stock for now; but am tempted to go up to Tacoma u-pull yards an find the HO Quad 4s or the dinky 150hp turbo 4 J-body engine to work on.....though the A-car never got the 1.8L or 2.0L 4 cylinders; so may be looking at custom engine mount fabrication and all sorts of drama....not sure how easy to get parts for the OHC engine compare to the OHV engine.... I know its possible to boost and make decent power with the Iron Duke, but expect it to not last quite long due to the crank an block being 27 years old....lol. am considering getting a 3.0 v6 engined car if its carbed, and swapping the block and crank/rods for a 3.8 block assembly and see how much compression i can get into there with the LK9 pistons lol...another idea is to buy flat top LK9 pistons and get a 3.0 MPFI N body car (Skylark/Somerset Regal, Calais, Grand Am,) and see if that bumps the cr to 9.5+ and then see how the engine does in a 2700 pound car lol

More work than what was needed:rolleyes: It is hitting the top of the cover, but the elbow has a useless piece of metal next to the bottom blot that could be cut off... I wish I brought my old stock steel covers, it would fit fine.

is that the fuel injected DOHC I4 engine made in 75-76 or something else? how much was it?

Yes, it's the cosworth Vega motor. Neat little engines to say the least. The injection system sucked though.:frown:

So glad to hear from you Jase. Glad you made it safe and sorry about the car. Make sure to do the oil pump mods outlined by Earl Brown. If you need the link I'm sure one of us will provide it.

hm. there's an 80 Sports Coupe Regal with a 3.8 carb-turbo engine in Fresno for like $1900, unfortunately at the moment, I can't come up with the money nor the justification or ability to drive a potential project car 1-2 days up to Salem :( however, it seems to be just right for the likes of y'all, what wit the crazy projects you guys are always doing ;) oh yeah, its in the board's FS section

jase. i have some headgaskets you can have just pay shipping. pm me and we can find out if they will work

Anybody want an old citation? Seriously, what was chev thinking when they called a car another word for a speeding ticket. The last picture cracks me up.
