Just want to make sure I'm not being scammed. Did you all recieve an e-mail
requiring you to submit a debit/check card # in order to keep your account active?
I thought that was kind of strange, you can't be too careful these days.

Forward a copy of the e-mail to spoof@paypal.com

Paypal will confirm whether it is a fake or from them.

we receive them ALL the time, from ebay, papypal, various banks...

It's called "phishing", and they are fishing for your info to rob you blind!

I got one of those emails awhile back and I knew it was a scam. So I just put in a bunch of BS info just to mess with them.

I hope you didn't send them anything!

I got the same message and almost bought it. Very clever of someone.
However, when I wanted to sell some things on eBay, it did ask me for a credit card verfification.

You can always tell when these types of things are fakes when they give you a link to click on...the link may say www.paypal.com but when you highlight the link and left click for properties or set your cursor on the link and you see the actual address in the bottom display area its not a paypal or ebay address...it usually something like blahblah.paypal.blahblah.com or something completely different.

I was told by ebay that if it was real it would have had ebay.com in the address like signon.ebay.com and not xxxx.ebay.xxx.com.

IF you ever have dought just forward the e-mail to spoof@paypal.com I think is the address. If not just look at their site and it is there. They will confirm weather or not it is good for you and shut down the site it comes from. For some reason I get about 1 a week.
